about 2 weeks ago i happened to be going through chaturbate models and saw collin simpson of gayhoopla fame on there. watched for a few minutes and a somewhat uneventfulshow at that time. he even looked down at his phone and text someone if my memory serves me. well, i left the room and about 15 minutes later i went back into his room. i caught the end of his show. i truly hope, as do others, that the man is safe and well. he was totally incoherent, slumped forward then backwards in his chair then forward again grabbing his head in his hands. people in his room were freaking out and asking what if anything they could do to help. after a few minutes the room went dark. fast forward to today. i remembered about the show so i googled to see if there might be anything about and if he was even still alive. well.....

whats alarming is the fact that he is retiring from the porn world due to his drug addictions. is it doing porn that is causing all this mayhem and death in that field of work? is alluring these supposed "straight" men into gay acts and being on screen for eternity that feeds into their regular lives a factor? i just want people on here to converse about the bigger picture not to berate or single out this one man. he goes from a fresh faced uber hottie to a potential death sentence in a few short months. so sad. what is this world really coming to? and i mean that with heartfelt sincerity.

discuss please

Before we even get into the treacherous territory that is the world of sex work, sexual minorities are already twice as likely to have substance abuse issues in contrast to the heterosexual population, due to increased stressors.

I do not think sex workers are more prone to mental health issues more than the next person but I do not feel you should be in the thick of the business or even step into the business if you have existing or underlying mental health issues you have not even so much as began to treat/work on. Sex work can be very dark work. It is mentally taxing and extremely demanding.

I think a lot of young men get involved and have no exit strategy and when the money and attention dwindle, they began to feel discarded and panic because their life goes from feast to famine very quickly. Then they’re thrown into a panic and it becomes, “well what am I doing and what am I going to do?”

And like any line of work, when the money is no longer good, and when you’re no longer receiving those accolades.. people begin to indulge in their vices. Slippery slope. You also have the escort who dabbles in substance abuse to work more efficiently and earn money very quickly, not realizing (or overlooking) the long term damage and the ominous times to come. It’s all very counterintuitive and that’s why you see so many escorts in cities like New York and LA becoming increasingly strung out. Now insert the client who will effortlessly drop thousands for a PNP session, and then drug use and quick money go hand in hand. It’s all a recipe for disaster.

My biggest frustration, however, is that conversations about this should be happening regularly but they only happen when someone very attractive dies. It’s never in the headlines until someone beautiful has collapsed at a party or overdosed on Chaturbate that it’s then a hot button topic. It should be an ongoing conversation, all the time.

Well said. It is a topic that should be discussed on a regular basis. It requires balance and mentorship to succeed in any field. This is a sad story. Unfortunately for this model, it happened publicly. The real challenge is that it is happening everywhere, right now, to someone. People need a support system to catch them when they fall.

Amen to that. When one is young, beautiful, virile and healthy, it is felt it will last forever and we are invincible. Mother nature has a way of slowly turning the tides. My father use to say that an old billionaire would give every single dollar he has to switch bodies with the young man. He was right. If only there was a way for the young and invincible to see how quickly time goes by that they would cherish every day of their youth and never take one second for granted. I believe each day we are making our memories. It's up to us to WANT to look back at a good stable life or CHOOSE to look back at a tumultuous life full of chaos. Unfortunately more and more people are choosing the later over the former. Mistakes will be made. We all have. The key is to make those mistakes that do not leave us or our loved ones with the type of sorrow within those memories that last a lifetime.

I cannot say how many strippers I have known over the years that have ended up deceased. Mostly from suicide, overdose, and car accidents (particularly drug and alcohol-fueled accidents). The porn/escort/stripper world is unforgiving and provides many slippery slopes for careening into the abyss. It takes a strong-willed person to stay clear of the traps. The combination of youth and money can be very intoxicating...and deadly.

my opinion is ben is totally on to it. certain industries by nature attract certain "types" of people. the porn/body industries seem to attract the type of personalities that have/need immediate gratification and adoration. why that is the case would crtainly be on an individual basis.

the very unfortunate thing is that the money in an industry and the "powers that be" more than likely dont give a damn about the individual over the money that they make. next in line! since screening seems to be done for physical health there certainly needs to be screening for mental health as well. unfortunately there would probably be very slim pickins for talent if most were screened.

I watched the whole unfortunate episode on chaturbate a few weeks ago. It was very scary to watch. He walked off screen, took heroin, the basically passed out after scratching his skin uncontrollably and going into a drug induced haze. I remember watching Collin on gayhoopla when he first entered the pron world. He was so innocent looking and eager to please. Absolutely adorable, then he quickly entered a steroid phase where his body morphed into the hulk with terrible acne, erythema, puffy face.

all the comments above are so considerate and thoughtful. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to go from fresh off the farm to internationalize nail porn star where easy money, drugs flowing, adoration come so quickly to you. On top of it all, he seemed to be publicly coming in and out of the closet on Twitter.

I sometimes wonder if my support of the porn and escorting industry is an enabler? Never do drugs, but certainly contribute generously to the easy money. It takes a day of hard to work to equal an hour of escorting. Not that being an escort is not challenging. I have heard many tales of how tough it can be to be an escort. Like said above, only a few can figure it out and make escorting a successful career. Takes a lot of maturity and self awareness.

I agree wholeheartedly with all of the above. But I wonder if there’s also a slight demographic component here. We lost a whole generation of beautiful men to the AIDs epidemic. They’re just not around to be role models to influence these guys.

I actually had an escort pass out during a session because he took too much of what I later found out was liquid G. The panic I felt for the 5 minutes before the ambulance came out is something I’ll never forget. I thought he was dying. He was drooling uncontrollably, sluggish, his eyes were rolling back. It was awful.

Two more that I’ve know have died. One guy who was becoming a regular I no longer see because he nonchalantly pulled out his meth pipe during our last session which caught me off guard.

I don’t use drugs but it certainly seams from my experience that young, gorgeous men in the sex industry do it in spades at a ratio far greater than the average public. I too often feel like an enabler.

This thread is so sad to read. Life is HARD and when you add the “easy escape” that drugs appear to provide, along with the expectations of those around us (either real or perceived) - I can understand why folks choose that path. Then glitz and glamour that goes with certain industries also appear to exacerbate this.

My grandma used to say that God knows the name of every bird, the color of every flower and exactly how broad your shoulders are - he will never give you more than you can carry. If only that was true....

Lot of folks outside of porn fall victim to drugs, such as young celebrities. I'm not going to name names because we've all heard about these sad cases.

Whoever is coming to celebrities or coming to porn stars with drugs to sell has targeted certain people. Don't know why. Don't have the answers. But I do find it disturbing to hear others stand in judgment of these targets that fall victim to drug abuse. It is a nefarious, money making business, and these poor fellows in gay porn and in the gay community are not helped at all by blaming them for their plight, that they've been swept into this addiction.

Yup, judging them does no good at all.

We had a beloved on air personality die from doing drugs in a hotel with his gay companion. He was really loved a lot by everyone, so much that one didn't hear any of this judgment going on, only how much we will miss him, and perhaps our own personal thoughts that his wife and kid are left alone and we are left without seeing him on his TV show. Drugs suck. I want to say "wake up!" But obviously this is an insidious thing that's taken hold of people. So getting all Nancy Reagan on people his horseshit.

I may be in the minority but I have always believed that these poor boys would be doing exactly what they're doing whether they work in Gay Porn or at Pollo Loco. What Gay or G4P porn affords them is the cash and often a fan base willing to send them cash that supports the addiction in a way that an ordinary job wouldn't. I look at someone like Kyle Dean, a teen star athlete competitive teen body builder who got into drugs followed by arrests for petty crimes all before 19 and then followed by gay porn. And this beautiful young boy is gone by 21. It's heartbreaking. But I've always believed the adult career simply fed the problem that was already there, it didn't create it.

A decade or two ago I was Chairman of The Board of a small non profit residential drug treatment program on NYC’s upper west side. I’ll never forget what one ex addict and now gifted councilor told me. “All of these guys come dysfunctional families. The problem with this analysis is that not all dysfunctional families produce addicts.”

This really is an interesting and disturbing ethical point to consider.

Sure we are enabling.... in the sense that we enable them to buy clothes, gym memberships, food, rent etc. My point is we give them money for services. What they do with that money is their choice.

I will say however that an incredibly handsome huge muscle porn escort I hired once. EXACTLY my type. After our somewhat lackluster session, he chatted with me that he had just gotten out of rehab. In the next sentence he said his performance was off that session and apologized due to some aderol he took. I asked him about his rehab. He said it helped him manage his use and that he didnt feel he was an addict at that point.

He contacted me several times and I told him I was not interested in another session. I refuse to be a willing party of giving my money knowing it was going directly towards something that could kill him. Now THAT would be the sort of enabling we all need to run from.

It's just my opinion. But it seems to me if you are able/willing to escort or 'dance,' that maybe in a lot of cases-not every- you have a personality that is more open to trying new things/push boundaries. Compound that with the party/clubbing atmosphere that many gay males partake in-well at least from a pop psychology viewpoint, it's easy to imagine why they might get caught up in drugs.

But that ignores the fact of older non escort gay males who are also addicted

Just throwing this out there-could the use of poppers be a gateway?

so what is it about drugs anyways that is so appealing to guys? i was given a half of an ecstacy pill once at a circuit party many years ago in chicago. when i went to sleep i actually felt the bed shake from my heart beating so hard. i never fell asleep till the next evening. i said to myself "what the fuck to i need something like this for" and never had the desire to try that or any drug again.

they must be because drugs are the devil in disguise. no other way to look at it. not one person can state "ive taken drugs now for 20 years and man have they made my life successful, happy and complete. i would have been a train wreck if i never started using them." we see in every case just the opposite happens. it truly is a marriage of "till death do us part".

with all the media hype over rehab, people dying and actually seeing this live in this case, why one would ever start the first hit boggles my mind knowing almost for certain that a grave outcome will happen.

@Gymowner That’s not always the case. Many can attest that drugs gave them “the best years of their lives,” because not everyone has an addictive personality or depency issues, everyone doesn’t react to stressors the same way, everyone’s reasoning for drug use is individual, and not everyone’s brain is wired the same way. Some people can be in the thick of drug use, remove themselves and be fine, for others it’s not that simple. Additionally, some of the most beloved creatives were addicted to drugs. Per your point, the outcome is usually grim but we wouldn’t have some of the most iconic books, music and art had it not been for drugs.. if you think about it.

Because “curiosity killed the cat.”

Drugs are also very much glamorized in the media. But your question can apply to so many things. Why do people begin smoking cigarettes? (Cancer) or eating fried foods (heart disease) or become professional boxers (brain damage) and the list goes on and on. People, well versed on the outcome of their poor decisions don’t always want to rob themselves of the temporary (and very significant) joys associated with these vices..when the “game of life” is already fucked up anyway.
