Exactly... it takes a lot of guts to disagree with folks in an online forum specially when it's such an important part of your social life.

That is so very true. I tend to hire unreviewed guys. There are a couple of reasons for this. 1) I rely on my gut instincts when discussing a potential appointment to inform whether I should proceed. Even if a guy has hundreds of glowing reviews, when my gut says "no" then the appointment is a no-go. 2) A review is the reviewer's impression of the experience they had on a particular day. As you sated, everyone has an off day. Some of us have different likes/dislikes than most. A review can tell only so much. 3) My own experience with guys who have tons of glowing reviews has been mixed. The well-reviewed guys I've enjoyed are guys I would have hired had they not been well-reviewed. The well-reviewed guys whom I've not enjoyed are guys I hired because I did not listen to my gut and instead listened to a review. I learned from my mistakes.
