The point raised in the thread on the film about the escort and the older man suggests that past late 50s, certainly in the 60s, one's physical attractiveness wanes (deteriorates) to the point that it's time to hang it up in the sack - or at least in front of a mirror.

Are there 50/60 something actors who still turn you on, stir a fantasy or two? Inspire you to keep pointing those toes to the ceiling?

In his 70s, Paul Newman took his shirt off in "The Hudsucker Proxy." He was still lean and defined. Harrison Ford, soon to be 65, still is a dream hook-up for me.

Any others?

Tom Selleck still looked good at 62 on a recent Boston Legal. That is the case despite the very 80's moutache.

Kevin Costner at 52 is still slim and muscular.

Sean Connery at 76 is fit and probably still a sexy and virile man.

Jeff Bridges --58 in December--is shill hot, at least to me.

Agree with all the other selection. Never got Paul Newman's appeal, even when he was in his 20s and 30s. Isn't Cruise taller than Newman?

Newman is probably shorter than he used to be, so comparisons will vary. As an actor, he wasn't very good until his late 30s when he did "Cool Hand Luke". For many people, it's the blue eyes that gives the appeal. As time goes on he's been able to convincingly portray a range of interesting characters.

OTOH, I never got the appeal of Costner--a weak player in most of his roles who, unlike Newman, has not grown as an actor. Plus, he's a rather bland looking guy.

Costner made a movie years ago called "No Way Out" in which he played a Russian spy serving in the US Navy, stationed in Washington.

He had many scenes where he wore tight white pants & shirt. He looked SOOOO hot. I still watch the movie just to see his ass.

Newman made his reputation as an actor on the stage in New York before his film career took off. His role in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof brought him to world-wide attention. IMO his talent as a true actor on both stage and screen places him above many of his contemporaries who would include Brando and Steve McQueen, as talented as they were. And needless to say, his staying power has been remarkable in an industry that often chews up its stars. Probably his marriage to Joanne Woodward helped a lot. ;)

Newman really pales by comparison with Liz Taylor and the supporting cast (Big Daddy and the "no neck brats") in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Part of it is the obtuse coding of his character's homosexuality, but much of it was his still undeveloped acting. As Gore Vidal noted "he was a star before he was an actor" and he's known Newman since the 50s. His film debut was in an awful movie called "The Chalice". He really didn't do much stage work beyond college--in the early 50s, he managed his family's sporting goods business in Cleveland, after the death of his father.

By the time Newman was breaking out, Brando was beginning to phone it in (although he was unforgettable in "Last Tango in Paris"). McQueen came a little later via television, but you can't compare his performance in "The Great Escape" with what Newman was doing at the time. McQueen had a more narrow screen persona, but he did a lot with it.

So, back to sexy dudes ...

No one has mentioned Treat Williams, yet? Or did I miss it?

And I don't know his name, shame on me, but how about that woof that plays Sally Field's brother on Brothers and Sisters?

I read today that Kevin on B&S is not the only gay. Evidently Sally's brother - mentioned above - also comes out. Probably on the seasons finalle.

He's a touchlong-in-the-tooth for my tastes but I can see how he could really appeal to those thta are into daddys.

I don't think that it's likely to be this twinkling eyed man. He's already had a hetero affair go South. Meanwhile, the gay son has had a couple of boyfriends and dates, at least two of which I wouldn't be surprised to see come back into the story line. Most particularly the actor and the Senator's brother.

And, yes, isn't this thread largely for talking about sexy guys you might consider Daddies? If you're not into them yourself, is this the right thread on which to call them "long in the tooth"?!}(

Well according to 365Gay it is Uncle Saul.

Hmmmmmmmm I think I maybe touched a nerve here. But please read my post again. I didn't call THEM long in the tooth - I called HIM long in the tooth. There's a big differance!

Well, tickle me with a feather. Uncle Saul, eh? I still think we're (also, then) going to see the Senator's brother on the show again. I've read that there are going to be two weddings on the last episode this year. If one of them is the Senator and Kitty, I don't think that his brother will boycott his wedding just to avoid Kitty's bother.

And I know that you said, "he", I merely generalized outwards. I have a great joke abou that, but I have to talk with my hands to say it. Ah, well ....

And how the Hell could we have forgotten Kurt Russell for so long, either?! I've grown up, since my elementary school days, thinking that he was a double woof, and he still is!

Christopher Walken is the sexiest man on the planet, especially when he's dancing.
