Given that her son died of a drug overdose in a hospital room where doctors and nurses were just a few steps away, I'm not surprised Anna Nicole expired in a hotel room, house doctor or no house doctor.

It seems possible that someone dying of an overdose or drug interaction, as her son reportedly did, could quietly pass in his sleep while others slept around him. The son was supposedly jet lagged and sleep deprived and otherwise healthy, all reasons to be less suspicious of a sound sleep.

 

Leaving an adult with a high fever, reportedly more than 103, without medical attention, when it is readily available, really is foolish. When someone is running a high fever, it doesn't seem like the best time to leave them alone and unattended for several hours.

 

I know when someone enters law school, they usually have to check the heart and soul at the gates. I didn't realize that they had to check the common sense too. Or perhaps Mr. Stern just came by his stupidity naturally.

This tale has spun out of the Russian novel genre and has tornadoed itself into the sci-fi section. The release of her will, leaving all her money to her dead son and specifically excluding any husbands and children not mentioned in this will, adds just another layer of bizarreness. Her daughter has been excluded from this will, written before her conception. Now the daughter may well need to have a court appointed ad litum (think that is the proper legal term) to guard over her interests as related to her exclusion from the will. So the dead child gets everything, the living child gets nothing and the lawyer gets to manage the estate. Wonder if her son had an estate and if the son's estate may inherit his mother's estate?

All we need is a Martian invasion and Ford Prefect with a towel and the stage would be set perfectly.

Nice summary, but you missed a couple of details.

 

The executor is Howard K. Stern, and he's in charge of the money until otherwise told. He doesn't *have* the money, but he's in charge of it. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Nice, he "sort of" married her, but that would leave him out of the will. But he still has control.

 

Daniel died at 20. Can a minor *have* an estate? (Is there a lawyer in the house?) Hmmm ... Daniel died just before he would have received the first payout proscribed by the will, should she herself die. Hmmmm....

 

And of course, one of the attorneys that witnessed the will is now disbarred.

 

Forget Ford Prefect. We need the Vulcans on the case for this one! (Or the Ferengi. ;-))

A minor in Canada can have an estate...however it has to be run by an (I forget the name?)anways an appointed person until the minor is of age.

Documentary producer Ashley Wells Lewis has culled three hours of unseen footage of Smith, who died last week, into an 80-minute documentary that's being offered to broadcast and cable networks. The footage was shot in Lewis' Malibu home in May 1993 after the producer befriended Smith, who stayed at her guest house several times.

 

The documentary, shot by cinematographer James Chressanthis (CBS' "Ghost Whisperer"), features the 1993 Playboy Playmate of the Year discussing such topics as her son, Daniel, who died in September, and future husband J. Howard Marshall, who died in 1995. She also sings in character as her idol Marilyn Monroe.

 

"It shows a genuine, sweet, innocent side of her that we've never seen before," said Lewis, whose credits include "A Bridge for the Children" and "Voices That Care."
