+ Vegas_Millennial Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Not every television program needs to read like a soap opera and continue its story over years and years, with viewers who join in the middle feeling lost. A continuous story makes for great binge watching, but it is not needed for the traditional 25 minute sitcom. Look at "I Love Lucy". Yes, there was a season where they went to Hollywood, a season where they traveled Europe, the birth of Little Ricky, and the move to Connecticut. But, one could turn on the television set and watch any of those episodes out of order and enjoy the show just fine. Every plot problem was resolved by the end of the episode. It's not a big deal that the same extras appeared in every season with different character names, or that sometimes the Ricardo's kitchen had a table and at other times had a counter. Roseanne and the Connors does well relating to working class families. It's still nice to have a story wrapped up by the end of the episode and not need to watch the episodes immediately before or after to understand what is happening. Middle America just needs 30 minutes to laugh and relate to their micromanaging boss, the good-for-nothing spouse of a relative, and the queer things their children do. samhexum and thomas 2
jeezifonly Posted April 24 Posted April 24 From the Horse’s mouth, the upcoming season finale is the series finale. (Goodman a long-time fam friend…)

samhexum Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 I just knocked off the last four episodes. It was not a life-changing experience. thomas 1

Hardcore "I Love Lucy" fan here as a warning as I live not too far from where she was born so I have the answer to this! Their kitchen had just a counter when they lived in their first apartment. After Little Ricky was born they moved upstairs to a bigger apartment which had a bedroom for him. Thus the kitchen with a table. Also a noticeable difference would be no window in the living room in the first apartment and a window in the second apartment. + Vegas_Millennial, samhexum and thomas 1 2

Everything got wrapped up as nice as could be. The problem has always been every character on the show had their own storyline going on. It's hard to fit them all into every episode. Big reason why they had to let DJ go. Mark had to get booted out as well before the final episode. Becky's daughter was hopefully being watched by a ghost nanny as well there at the end. Darlene's husband was pretty much unused this final season. Also why give Harris a new boyfriend for the last few episodes as well. Like Darlene said to him, who the hell are you. I would have loved though if the check from the drug company would have been for $1.08 million or $10.8 million in a little wink to when they won $108 million in the fake dream last season of the original show. Plus it would have been nice to give Dan a truly happy ending in my mind. thomas 1
