I cancelled a meeting last week with a new guy because his story seemed suspicious. He's an early 20s guy who lives alone in a nice part of a major city's downtown. If he can afford to live in a studio/1 bedroom downtown I don't see why he has to escort. It was a new profile too with no reviews or verified pics so that only added to my suspicion.

Perhaps he has to escort to pay that rent or he has a benefactor. I know several young 20s escorts who live in 4K studios/1 bedrooms in midtown manhattan.

Perhaps he LIKES what he does.

I'm always and genuinely shocked to see this kind of attitude in this forum of all places. "...Why he has to escort."

Gross.

It's so mystifying to me then how they continue to offer "verification" services and that users continue to believe in and rely on them. It seems like such a deliberately misleading feature.

Either you're validating and confirming that this person is the person in the photos and on their ID, or you aren't. Everyone should keep this in mind when they see that "verified" tag on a RM profile. It means virtually nothing.

I'm with you there Quincy. I'd be totally suspicious with someone escorting living in a nice bldg. That's why I only hire drug addicts living in shit holes. At least I don't have to wonder why they do it. No doubt that guy was with the police or FBI or even the CIA.

Uh, I think you might have it backwards there.

Yes I was reading this thinking did everyone read this wrong. It was the provider not the client getting in trouble. Sorry you had to deal with this Kevin. I definitely echo Mo Mason's sentiments. I would never hire anyone I felt was underage, being coerced or doing it to support an addiction but between to consenting people should not be an issue.

Hope this is no more than a little bump in the road for you.

Actually, it wasn't Kevin that encountered the situation. It was the original poster who stated "Recently tried setting up something with someone off rentmen and it turned out to be a sting so just be careful out there guys and be cautious when setting stuff up."

Oh my. This thread took an odd left hand turn.

I’m old and become easily confused so in a situation such as this I always revert to my dentist analogy. If I were choosing a dentist what criteria would I look for?

I look for someone who is professional and clearly takes pride in the quality of their professional services. If I were visiting a dentist for the first time and his office were in an abandoned crack house apartment I would rethink my choice.

<shrug>. It works for me.

Are you using a dentist analogy because you expect to be drilled by both?

I’m sorry, I don’t know what this means. Can you explain please?

There is some discussion of secure access elsewhere - in the Tech Forum among others - but I use a VPN, the TOR browser (sometimes) and DuckDuckGo for searching.

It’s like brushing your teeth in the morning... it’s a good hygiene practice that becomes second nature.

Frankly I’m more concerned about the massive amount of loss of privacy thru my ISP, Google and the other vampire providers and the coorelating of massive amounts of my data than I am the discussion above. But that is a Tech discussion.

I don’t want to give out the city or go into a lot of details because this case is not finished yet.

There was no money exchanged. There was no touching. And the profile was deleted before I even got home from the station (first thing I looked for to give to my lawyer)

If having the ad in the "hands" of your lawyer would be helpful to your case (he would know if that were true & probably already told you), he or you or a tech friend of yours should be able to track down the ad which would have left a "trace" somewhere even if it was deleted.

Does your lawyer have a lot of experience in handling sex cases? That factor can be a make or break difference for you. When my best friend out of New England got busted by a sex/drug vice unit years ago while visiting down here in Atl, he got a lawyer who was very experienced in such things which was very effective in fighting back against the (corrupt) A.P.D.

Good luck to you, Paul. Please keep us posted & thanks for alerting us!

Try searching the wayback machine if you have the URL. They may have cached a copy while the ad was up.

Boy, Keith.

If I didn't like you already, lol ❤❤. This kinda talk is like foreplay.

Maybe escorting is how he’s able to afford living in NYC.

Whatever we think of the living circumstances or reasoning behind why a provider provides what they do for us, we should always listen to our gut instincts & exercise caution first & foremost.

The episode this op has just given us is nothing new to the biz. It has long been fraught with legal risks for both the provider & user.

Has anyone ever addressed this oral hygiene fixation with you?
