Has a guy you hired ever written to you from jail?

This was a new one for me. Happened a couple of weeks ago. I knew the guy was in some trouble because he asked me for a character reference a few months back, but when I didn't hear back I thought everything was ok. Apparently not, though in his letter he said the reference did help get him a lighter sentence. Did he ask me for money? Of course he did! It wasn't a complete surprise. This guy was one of my first ever hires. I've seen him fairly regularly since 2013 and we've had our ups and downs, though recently we have been on very good terms. Our most recent get together was by far the most passionate of the more than 2 dozen times I've seen him. I'm probably a big sucker but I did send him some money. We'll see if I hear back.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Hasn’t happened to me...yet!!

I have to ask - do you have a thing for ‘bad boys’? Did yet get a ‘this guy is fun, but trouble’ vibe from him over the years? :D

I've gotten calls from relatives in jail (notably my brother)...wanting some strings to be pulled and gears greased. I didn't.

Never heard from a hire in trouble, though. And I'd turn him down if I did...assuming I even acknowledged the request. When I was an escort, I'd never have contacted a client if I got in trouble. I'd never put them on the spot or open them up for investigation on a pandering/solicitation charge. I wouldn't seriously consider it. Calls are monitored and letters are opened and read.

The naïve me from 10 years ago tried to help a guy for several years as he went in and out of county jail with misdemeanor charges, inability to pay fines etc. I saw that as helping him to get back on his feet. Although originally we met in the escrt context, it evolved into a friendship and did not involve sleeping together. I even met his probation officer once. It was all futile. I think his problems were/are rooted in some psych issues which were never addressed by the system who only knew how to handle the resulting law enforcement issues by throwing him in the jail. His problems affected the naïve me in many ways and severely disrupted my life. Eventually it all got too much for me to handle. I learned a lesson in life - sometimes you just have to let things go and that sometimes there are problems for which you have no solutions.

No I don't particularly have a thing for bad boys and this guy did not strike me at all as being troubled, though I did detect a bit of a quick temper. In fact I remember being impressed that he seemed a responsible young man with a definite plan for his future. He was in school when I first started seeing him, had a steady job and his own place after that and has, to my knowledge, not advertised his services since he started working. I believe I was his only remaining customer and I did consider him a friend. We'll see what happens.

Wow you used to be an escort and now you're in a position to pull strings and grease gears? Sounds like a great rags to riches success story! Tell us more. ;)

I also fiddle with knobs.....hehehehehe

I'd be happy to tell more of my story....but there's no need to hijack this thread to do so.

I know you all may think I'm crazy but I actually visited an escort that I had seen multiple times after he got arrested

a mutual acquaintance found out his real name and that he was in a facility near me

I emailed him he was shocked but happy to hear from me

His family disowned him as this was his 3rd or 4th arrest

Due to substance abuse

Visited him twice....then I was thinking maybe not a good idea

Emailed him that I could not come any longer he understood was happy I made the effort

Fast forward to this year, sadly he passed in Miami Florida in late January. He was 34

You don't seem crazy at all but rather sweet. Except for the sad ending your story reminds me of the Bible passage -

"I needed clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me."

Non-violent drug offenders should not be put in jail. I realize the discipline of prison may help them get their shit together but it probably does more harm than good on the average.

Sad to hear and I see nothing wrong with you visiting him.

My former regular sadly looks like he’s going down the same path. I’m moving to a new place soon and when I mentioned that to him late last year he kept suggesting we live together and roommates.

Told him no many times, waaaaay too much baggage and drama on his side.

Back in the 1980s, I hired a guy who was a coverboy on a gay mag. He was gorgeous, but the sex was unsettling and something told me he was seriously disturbed, so I didn't give him any contact info for further business. A year later I hired an escort who looked so much like him that it could have been his brother--and it turned out that it was his younger brother! A few years later, I learned from another escort that the older brother was in jail for killing a client. If I had received a letter from him, I would have freaked out.

Jail for substance abuse is such bad social policy, the punishment does not fit the crime. Slowly we are starting to look at it more as a health issue than a criminal issue.

Sometimes using it as a bully stick is very effective. Drug Courts are great.

I've never seen the usefulness of threats. At best it seems the last strategy after all others have failed. And very few options - beside crime, police and mass incarceration - have been adequately provided and tried in the mass addiction era we are in. (And why are addicts of drugs thrown in jail but not addicts or sex, work, or gambling?) Drug courts are better than the regular criminal court system, and they are few and far between for such a massive social problem

If someone has an addiction to a hardcore drug like meth or heroin they're no longer in control of their mind and bodies. Locking them up is sometimes just enough to get them out of the cycle. I've heard many rehab stories where prison was attributed to saving their lives.

Yeah some disturbed beings out there. I hired a hot masseur once. Decent massage, then he started talking. For me I like a good massage and if it does not develop into anything sensual, I am fine as long as the massage is good. It wasn't going anywhere sensual, so didn't push. Then he started talking and he said he was so sick of these old f word. He went on about how one guy put his finger in his butt and he almost broke it and just laughed. Then he went on about his girlfriend who broke up with him and was out with a new dude and he broke the car window and dragged his ass out and beat him. At this point I was panicking, but stayed calm, waited till the massage was over , gave him his fee and a tip and got the hell out of there. Didn't see his ad for long .

That was the scariest experience I ever had-masseur or escort.

I’ve been in contact with two of my previous escorts when they went to County Jail. I just mailed them and sent him some small gifts to make their stay nicer. Didn’t really keep in touch with either after their incarceration.

It's nice for them to have some cash on account so they can buy things at the jail canteen.
