Reading the story, this sounds like an upgrade screwup and the flight attendant was an idiot who misspoke. If the two were already sitting together moving ONE person wouldn't address the other couple's seating situation...the issue was first class was overbooked and they probably bumped down the person with fewer miles.

No way..no how would I get up without having the police called. If the story is told correctly with no embellishments, get a crowbar! I'm not going. Jennifer Holiday all over their ass. Enough making excuses for poor behavior. The airline was, is wrong.

You don't bump a premium passenger to lower priced couch seat without compensation. Major screwup by the flight attendant that going to cost the airline a lot.

There’s more to this story. Were the 2 guys on separate tickets so the FA didn’t know they were together? Was there maybe an upgrade involved and the the other couple trumped the upgrade? You never just dump someone out if F to accommodate a seating request. It just doesn’t happen.

I've been called up to first class for an upgrade, seated, then told I had to return to my seat, presumably because a paying customer showed up. They don't need to offer compensation for revoking a freebie which is what this might be.

There certainly is more to this story. I doubt it was a "straight couples are better than gay couples" thing, as the gay gossip website and the gay couple want us to believe. As others suggest, the flight attendant or, more likely, the gate agent was juggling upgrades and related status

Agree. There's a lot more.

If the gay couple weren't on the same PNR, it could have easily happened.

This has happened to me twice. Once with Air Canada. LA to Montreal. I arrived at the gate and the attendant offered me an upgrade to first at no extra charge, which I thanked her for and graciously accepted, but it actually was her screw-up, she had double booked the seat. As we pushed back, a passenger boarded at the last minute and approached me asking me if I was in the wrong seat. He showed me his ticket, and indeed both tickets reflected the same seat. The flight attendant was called and they looked in the computer and realized the error. They ultimately gave the seat to the other passenger, since he had actually bought his ticket weeks in advance, and put me in the main cabin. I was a little irritated and expressed my displeasure with the flight attendant. He immediately offered me a cocktail. I ordered scotch rocks with a water back. Expressing further displeasure with the brand of scotch served in coach, he returned with a bottle of Chivas on a silver tray with two glasses and two glasses with ice. It turned out to be a very pleasant flight...

And once on Virgin, but the screw-up was in my favor.

And this is why I save my money and miles and don't even attempt to go premium class.....too much drama over seats by people with huge egos ! 1st and Biz is full of Type-A's.

Give me a seat, or 2 or 3 in the very back of steerage, a sleeping pill and some wine and wake me when they need to come on to clean the plane.

This was a Virgin Atlantic plane and crew and they're (were) the closest to a gay airline there is (was).
