If you give me your number, I'll call you. Will you put me in your will? I'll even send you birthday & Christmas cards! ;):p:rolleyes:

PLEASE, Padrino?

I recently posted about the idea of naming an escort as a beneficiary of an insurance policy in exchange for certain attention. Cards and letters do not put you in the running.

Imagine being a Tom and being called Uncle Tom or a Dick and being called Uncle Dick ! But just uncle for me, after I had the kids, the distance with some has really grown-I guess they figured they are not going to get the money.

Ever since I was a young'n, I told my sister I would NOT be Uncle Sam if she ever had kids.

It took her a long time to find the right guy... She had her first kid at 37+, & her second 3 1/2 years later... ironically, the exact same timetable as our mother.

I was pleasantly surprised when I was with her one day during the first pregnancy... she started talking to her belly, and introduced me to the baby as Tio Sam (we're English-speaking Jews). Both my nephew & niece grew up calling me Tio Sam.

They're both in college now, and they still call me Tio Sam. I'm still not sure if they actually realize I'm their uncle. (I didn't say they were in good colleges. ;):D:rolleyes:)

We have seventeen nieces and nephews between my partner and myself. I would say it's a little better than 50/50, with a slight majority favoring "uncle". Doesn't seem to follow any pattern (age, gender). We're pretty close with most of them. We have a nephew and niece (brother and sister), who are estranged from their father. When they were younger they started sending us "Uncles Day" cards on Fathers Day - continues to this day. Pretty awesome. The funny thing is, they don't call us "uncle" when addressing us.

I have 2 nephews and 4 nieces, who all refer to me as uncle.

They were all in their early 20's when I met my partner ... who was also in his early 20's at the time. He's 20 years younger than me. They jokingly referred to him as aunt. But it stuck.

15 years later, they have children of their own, 10 so far. And their children are referring to us as uncle and aunt. It's kind of funny because they call him aunt with no questions. Then as they get older, they question it and stop calling him that. But then a few years later, they better understand and pick it up again.

The majority of them, 19 in all counting spouses and children, were in town last weekend for a yearly summer visit with me and my partner.

I was sixteen when my first nephew was born (my sister is nine years older) and nineteen when the second one came along. As children both prefaced my first name with uncle but from about twenty on started called in my first name only. The interesting thing is that both of their wives (who I adore) preface my first name with uncle. All of their children and grandchildren call me uncle.

Using my first name has never been an issue with me. The fact is I never minded my high school students calling me by my first name. I actually enjoyed how it caused many of my "charming" colleagues to have shit-fits.

I have one niece who is 16. Known her since she’s been born. She has never spoken a word to me. So I dont ever want her ever call me uncle or by my first name would want he to call me Mr. ______

Is there a story behind this? Do her parents hate you?

No story. My SIL keeps making excuses for her deplorable behavior. She does the same thing to her uncle, my husband, and her grandparents. If one of my kids did that they’d slapped up the side of their heads.

Like literally doesn't say a word and didn't even when she was a toddler? That seems like special needs behavior.

She’ll talk when she wants to and to whom she wants to. If someone asks her a question and she doesn’t fell like it she won’t answer. If someone else asks her the exact same question she might answer them. She’s always done this, fromo the time she was 2 or so
