Loved your report! I go to Brazil every year and I prefer Rio over SP. My experience in SP was similar to your Rio experience. The garotos I met in SP were all upcharging me and they spoke really good English. I speak a little Portuguese and I love the food there. Very fresh and natural. I hope you go back and explore more of Brazil.

I live in NYC area and can somehow relate in the sense that dating here is hard. I haven't had the best luck in the dating apps but I still try to put myself out there. You're probably new. The Palm Springs weekend getaway is a way for folks here to meet in person in a safe setting. I went back in 2021 and enjoyed the experience. People also go to the award weekends (i.e. grabby or gayvn awards) as audience members and would go to afterparties, etc.

I recently just watched CONCLAVE and that was some great acting! I liked how its themes also dealt with idea of certainty/doubt amongst the faithfuls, even at the high level of Cardinal. Parts of the story reminded me of the movie Doubt starring Meryl Streep.

I don't remember any private dance area. If there was one I must have missed it. There was a lounge that served as a casual meet/greet area for audience members and dancers (after their shift). That's where negotiations happen before going to a nearby hotel. When I went in early 2000s, the going rate was $200 cash.

Sorry your friend got fired but at the same time, I recall folks normally negotiated all that stuff in the Gaiety lounge before leaving the theater.

That's smart. Sometimes a dancer will tell you it's $20 per song but then have an iPhone timer on and charge you $20 for every 3 minutes (even though in reality a song can last 4-5 minutes) so just be aware of this.
