It's pretty normal for 60 min sessions to be in the 50-55 min range at spas. You have to have some time in between appointments for the "2pm" client to get dressed and out before the "3pm" client arrives. Even if it's not the same masseur who has an appointment right after you, another masseur might be using that room.

I believe the question was about legit spas. "good masseurs in Manhattan at the legit places" As for underwear, even the "less than legit" places have signs saying to leave your underwear on but that doesn't mean it has to stay on. I agree with Tarte Gogo. The service industry is full of customers who think 5% or 10% is an acceptable tip for wait staff, for example. Wait staff could easy "advise" that they expect at least 20% for their work. Is the comparison completely equal? Maybe not but it's close enough.

Maybe once in a while but multiple texts every week smells of desperation. An occasional text is understandable but at some point it becomes annoying and a nuisance. If I want to see a masseur again, I will text them. I certainly don't need to be contacted multiple times every week.

I hate it when masseurs randomly text me. Part of me understands that it's their way of drumming up business so I forgive a text here and there.
