So that is about point one percent of the US population dead by the end of the year from this disease. A much larger number die from other causes in any year. Covid19 has disproportionately killed more elderly with underlying conditions. Many of these would die in the next year or so from these other causes. I try to keep these numbers in mind when assessing risks from exposure to the virus. I also look at my own country, Canada, which has much lower numbers but the same factors involved. And I take all the usual precautions we are told to practice. I have not stopped hiring, though, but I did until May to see what was going to happen To the trajectory of the disease locally. IMHO it's being overlooked that the handling of the virus to date has achieved one of the most important issues- namely the slowing of the inevitable spread of infections. Social distancing (Jeez I hate that phrase) and limits on economic activity are drastic, yes, but had the spread of the virus occurred over three weeks instead of the last six months, our health care system would have collapsed- imagine the 200k dead and 2 million infected all happening in March! There's no way this country could have handled it. It's bad enough what we saw in New York, I shudder to think about every hospital in the nation dealing with that chaos?

I dont want to sound disrespectful or insensitive, but i do feel that this Corona virus was blown out of proportions, yes, it is real but to call it a pandemic when it has killed less than 1% of the US population its too much for me, i am a democrat and i do feel that the democratic party is and will be juicing this virus until the election with the help of the tv networks, it is their best and only chance to defeat trump, when i see the number of people affected and killed by the virus its just very, very low. My point is that risk of getting it is very low and having major complications or dying from it its even lower, that is of course if people have some major disease and with a weak immune sistem. Non the less i have follow the protocols, stay safe, work out everyday, i have had a very healthy lifestyle always, dont drink, smoke or do any type of drugs and one more thing, lets not forget that the Coronavirus is related to the influenza virus, its a virus that has been amongst us for a very long time but recently passed to humans.
