From a client's side perspective, hiring when travelling for business, especially conferences, is problematic. It's difficult to plan in advance before arriving because you often don't know how much downtime you'll actually have. Meetings get moved around or run long, dinner plans change or get extended, work from the office becomes more urgent. In a perfect world, you'd know in advance you can get back to your room in time to freshen up and be ready for a evening appointment, but I've had trips where I'm uncertain how things will go until the day of. It's tempting to wait until I get back to the room and then see if there are any local guys who are available on short notice, but I have only actually done it a couple times myself. I can see a lot of guys looking on RM for 'Available Now' on their profile to do that, though. Personally, I have had a situation where I was visiting a client in a city where my brother lives, and we planned to meet up for dinner after I was done with the meeting. The client insisted on getting dinner after the meeting, which screwed up the plan to meet up with my brother. I messaged him and let him know what was happening, and we met up for a beer much later than planned instead, but yeah it was an inconvenience for him. I wouldn't have blamed him for saying it was a no-go, though. Now if a guy visits your city a few times, contacts you, but never seals the deal, sure it might be worth putting him on the ignore/block list. But a one time thing is a bit on the harsh side, IMO.

Although the thought crossed my mind briefly, it would be a bit immature if the other provider took offence to me reaching out someone else. He lives in a resort city pretty far from me so I can only get out there occasionally. The usual attractions haven't recovered yet there, so even if I could travel there it'd be kind of a bore for me since the things that are open don't interest me that much. Even if he lived in my city, I'm entitled to see other providers; variety of experiences is one of the 'perks' of this sort of thing. In general, if there isn't some actual ongoing arrangement, does any provider have a right to be upset about a client contacting someone else? If they're jealous, it's crossing a line into relationship territory. Yes, we're human and emotions and sex are naturally involved, but we always advise guys here to keep it business first and avoid emotional entanglements. If it's just because the client is spending his money or time on other guys, then he has an unreasonable expection that those resources belong to him. But if a client flakes on you, that's definitely a valid reason to consider not engaging him.

I have only posted postive reviews so far. I would only think about posting a negative review if an encounter went sideways badly (the usual things like theft, shakedowns, threatening behavior, etc), but I've been reasonably lucky in avoiding those sorts of problems. If we just didn't have that good of a session I'd just chalk it up to bad chemistry and move along.

I appreciate your take on it. As far as I know, all he asked the other provider remembered me and if we got along ok, nothing about what we did or what I might be into. That's good in this case because the two guys are totally different kinds of hires for me. The review I posted on RM is public, so discretion is kind of moot in this case. I would probably feel different if he asked for more details about my meeting with the first provider, however. It does have me thinking about the potential downsides of posting reviews on RM, though.

It's an interesting idea, though I think it's probably not as good in smaller market cities like mine. There's only about 4 listings total. Some of the mainline hotel chains started more day use options during the pandemic, though I think that's starting to wind down as the hotels fill up again. Hilton has been running a dayuse option site targeted for people wanting a temp office option, the site lets you pick a date without a checkout date. https://www.workspacesbyhilton.com/ Hyatt implemented theirs with an offer code "OFFICE". I'm not sure how they manage checkin times on that basis though. IHG and Marriot seem to have only had limited offers.

To answer the OP's question, a provider is entitled to raise their rates if they deem fit and they don't have to offer any justification for it. You're making it sound like he owes you a look at his P&L sheets or a detailed breakdown of his expenses to justify his new rates. He could be increasing to keep pace with rising expenses, manage the number of clients he has to see to keep his earnings up, target a higher end market segment, etc. Its his business to run and he is free to disclose only as much as he wants to. That said, if I had been seeing a provider for a while and he suddenly increases his rates well above market with no consideration for being a long term client, I'm taking it as a sign that he doesn't really care to continue seeing me. I'd simply tell him that it's a shame, but I can't afford his new rate and wish him well.

The next day another provider I had reviewed a couple years ago pinged me and let me know that he'd been contacted by the provider asking about me and our meeting. We've chatted from time to time with him checking if I was going back to his city, so we've been on friendly terms and he gave me a good reference. How common is it for providers here to use a client's reviews to check them out with other providers? If you do it, has it helped you avoid potentially bad clients?

Hard to say. Onlyfans recently changed their policy to require all performers to have an performer account, so they can do proper documentation to avoid legal problems. I don't get the condescenion towards people who are cautious about investing in or using cryptocurrencies. There's also real world economic distortions being at least partially driven by crypto mining activities, such as the current semiconductor shortage and the amount of electricity used by mining, that may lead to significant pushback by the governments of several nations in the coming years. There's nothing wrong with putting money in speculative trading like crypto, but telling people that there's no risk of a bubble bursting causing them to lose their money is irresponsible at best.

I've been using it. It works on my Android phone and with my browsers on Windows well. On the PC you have to right click to select autofill, instead of the icon Lastpass would put in login forms, but it seems to work better. On Android you have to enable all of the permissions, but it reliably gives a prompt in most apps and in the browser. The main deficit is it doesn't seem to automatically pick up on password changes reliably or new account setups, so you have to be more mindful of editing your entries when you make changes.
