It’s not unreasonable at all for hobbyists to judge providers based on our likes/preferences. It’s the manner in which it’s done that’s issue. 

The OP asked for feedback on this particular provider - totally normal. What I think is unnecessary is when other hobbyists chime in -when they have no experience with the provider, and have no intention to engage them - picking apart the provider’s body, appearance AND talking down to hobbyists about our choices, about how this must be the best we can hope to get, AND THEN proceeds to go on about how sexy, hot they are. It’s just so condescending, so patronizing, and so unnecessary. 

Now if someone asks for feedback on a provider, and a hobbyist replies they’ve engaged them, and the pictures are out of date, the body is not what the pics show, etc. that’s different. 

The former is rude, the latter is informative. 

How many times have I opened a “411” thread, clicked the link, and seen a provider that’s not my type, that I don’t think is attractive? Plenty. But I don’t add a comment to the thread expressing any of that, or any faults I find with his appearance, or any judgement I have for hobbyists who go for that type. I just close the thread, and move on. That’s how this is supposed to work. 

Just my two cents. I will add a third cent - in anonymous forums when people start talking about how worldly they are, how well heeled they are, how desirable, hot, and sexy they are, my experience has been chances are, they’re none of the above.

Didn't have time to review this thread, but on the subject of professional critics, I read them because they aren't normal people, because they know the history and context of their field be it travel, film, books, theater, or fine art.  If I find a few critics whose insights and writings I admire, I don't mind if I disagree with them, occasionally, because I appreciate the thought they put into the review.  
That said, there are no client-PhDS in "hiring escorts".  But, the reviews are often helpful if you know how to read them.  And, bonus, you can always reach out to the RentMen Escort-reviewer for details or to say thank you, that is not the case with Richard Brody or Daniel Mendelsohn (film and book critic whom I often disagree with, but appreciate their work--though I did reach out to DM years ago after his BrokeBack review, and we became friends, briefly).

But it does not at all follow that he who has met more providers makes "better assessments." There are some pretty savvy, well spoken, articulate,  AND frugal posters withing the Company of Men too.

Couple initial impressions:
Like the way pics/vids are displayed. Bigger, easier scroll
Don't like that "last online" feature, which I find useful in that it provides a sense of whether account is active or dormant, appears to have gone away. I know that in current version this can be set to "private", but a number of profiles still display in current version. (If anyone has figured out that "last online" can appear in new version with a settings change or whatever, I'd be grateful for a heads up.)

Looks like the Rent.men site is pushing v7 in a couple of months.  Not sure I like it.  One thing i can't find is how to filter profiles by New Ads only which you can do on the current site and which  I like because it let's you identify new providers.  Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I hate the new site, I don’t need to see large ads of everyone.  Just show me the grid so I can do a quick look at who I’m interested in.  Give me an easy to use filter and contact info, is that too much to ask?  

The main difference that I'm disappointed about is the discrepancy in "last seen" info on the new interface. It may become more accurate as the launch approaches but, as of now, one profile on my Buddylist confirms that the gent has not logged in since 2015 while the new interface says he was "last online: a week ago"... (Making matters worse, I'm not a fan of the limited functionality of the BuddyList on rentmen.eu...)

@rvwnsd, of course you need a VPN from the US. But you still won’t get the written reviews on the rent.men even with a VPN. The VPN wasn’t the point; the point was that you can read the written reviews on rentmen.eu.
Is the picture with the photo and date from a computer? If it’s your phone, how’d you get that on rent.men? I have never seen the dates on photos on rent.men on my phone. I already knew you could see the date on the desktop view for the site.

Do they appear to have at least basic morals/values?

Many providers, myself included, receive hundreds of spam messages per day. Bots, trolls, flakes, harassers, stalkers, con artists, LEOs attempting to entrap them, other providers “booking them up” so they won’t have any availability… They have to deal with just as much, if not considerably more, nonsense as you do.
If you want a non-desperate provider to respect you, then you have to respect them too. If you treat them like merchandise, they're going to treat you like an ATM.

I don't think anyone said what you quoted so the legitimacy of your whole thought process falls apart.  But let's pretend someone made the exact statement you quoted.  How do you go from that to claiming the person is exhibiting self-loathing?     That is a huge leap IMHO.   People have opinions.  You can agree or not.  That is fine.  
I personally believe most gay men are less masculine than straight guys.  It is my opinion and I believe it to be true.  You can agree or not.  I really don't care.  You are allowed to believe what you choose.  

A question about Rentmen reviews:
I sometimes click reviewers' profiles to check if I can determine if they have similar tastes to mine and to see if I can read between the lines to decide if they have a consistent profile, how long they have been posting, and ultimately if they are "real" as opposed to inauthentic posters trying to boost ratings.
So sometimes the review I just saw on the provider's page is not listed in the posted reviews list  on the reviewers page.  How does that happen?
