  1. But, of course, you're not a mouse.
  2. Although it is great to be able to see performances at home and listen to recordings, I really prefer the experience of opera and concerts live in a theater. The greatest disappointment of retirement from major cities to a beautiful resort town is that is that I can no longer walk to a first-rate live performance of Don Carlo or a Bruckner symphony.

  4. But I am old enough to remember when the Rams were the original Los Angeles Rams at the Coliseum, and everyone there felt that they had betrayed the city by moving first to Anaheim, and then to St. Louis, which was owner Georgia Frontiere's home town.
  5. I don't see me, but I was there.
  6. Thanks, even if I don't really understand this. I guess I just have to turn off the VPN whenever I want to get on here.
  7. I just turned off my Avast VPN, and I was immediately able to get back into this site! But why has it never prevented me before this?
  8. It has been doing it with me on both Chrome and Firefox
  9. I get a 403 error whenever I try to get into this site on my desk computer, but I can get right in on my iPad. What is going on?
  10. Charles Kaiser's The Gay Metropolis (1997) also traces gay life in American cities from around 1940 through the AIDS epidemic.
  11. I don't follow the Phillies any longer, since I don't get Phillies broadcasts now, because I live in California; I can only watch them play if they make it to a final match to get into the WS.
  12. I don't remember how the Phillies got into the playoffs. The Eagles were favored to win the Super Bowl, and they had the lead or a tie in the game up to the last minute.
  13. Another disappointment for Philadelphians--first the World Series, and now the SuperBowl. Sigh...
  14. The Gay Militants by Donn Teal (Stein and Day, 1971) is still available on Amazon. It is a chronicle of the explosion of the gay liberation movement by a participant in the years around the Stonewall riot. [Full disclosure: Donn and I had a brief affair in the mid-1960s, when he was still a closeted high school teacher, and I was too far out of the closet for his comfort.]
  15. He looks Russian, and the only language he lists other than English is Russian.
  16. He says he is Slovak, but the only language he lists is English, and his photos seem to be taken all over the world. He looks more like a touring companion than a sexual provider.
  17. Jonathan Katz, Gay American History, is a good place to start.

  19. The first time I met anyone from the MB was at a social get-together in NYC about twenty years ago, where I briefly met a few members, but most of them left the board years ago. When I decided to retire to Palm Springs in 2004, I asked if anyone here had advice to offer, and I immediately received private messages from Lucky and latlrnr that they were just preparing to move here, too! They quickly became my closest friends in Palm Springs; latlrnr died unexpectedly in 2008, but Lucky is still one of my closest friends and companions. Lucky and I inaugurated the Palm Springs Weekend in 2005, through which I met many other members, including Oliver, who is also a good friend. Through Lucky I also met cooper during a visit to NYC a number of years ago. I miss jackhammer, whom I also met through Lucky, and Epigonos, whom I met through Oliver. Unicorn and I have almost met a couple of times, but circumstances intervened, though I hope we will still meet. I have chatted with many members at the Palm Springs weekends over a couple dozen years, and hope to meet Pensant this year. Although Hooboy and I spoke occasionally, I never met him in person, but I met Guy Fawkes/Daddy/Bill several times. The oddest experience, however, was that lankypeters and I both posted on the site for a couple of years before something clicked, and we realized that we had worked together closely long before the site--or even the Internet--existed, but had lost contact thirty years earlier. When we got together again in NYC, we had a lot to talk about.
  20. He looks much heavier in photo #1 than in most of the others. I wonder which is more current.
  21. Then does "Boyfriend Experience" mean you get to experience his boyfriend?
  22. A vintage photo of Robby Ginepri.
  23. Ain't that the truth!
  24. The face is important if all I want to do is kiss, but I can overlook it if there are other things that interest me more.
  25. That Mercedes is a lot older than he is (it probably belongs to his sugar daddy--or his grandpa).
