Found almost nothing written about the Casablanca reference from the end of S3. Perhaps a lot of internet bloggers have either not seen that movie or somehow don't carry an impression of that iconic scene. Time marches on. From the on-line critics, it almost seems there is an agenda to nitpick the show by reviewers that find the story arcs not resonating with them. Too bad. I love everything about it. For example the Sophie Lennon character. Love Jane Lynch. One reviewer questioned how a gay character story arc makes sense back in that era. Such narrow, shallow thinking! as if gays just showed up lately in these woke times we're in. I'm liking Joel more and more. He sure seemed to like Shy. ? And also Mei.

Johnny Mathis came to mind. Esquire magazine thought the character was potentially a composite, mentioning Harry Belafonte and Mathis.

Finished S3. Love the idea of Shy Baldwin, and also the actor portraying Moms Mabley was perfect. Trying to sort out in my head why the homage to Casablanca. Fun stuff. What a creative show!

I've received conflicting information about masks from within my own primary care medical group, and also about whether I should get tested. It pays to do one's own due diligence and not assume what some authority tells is best for you. In places like Hong Kong, masks are a common choice to mitigate risk. They have a lot of experience using them to combat epidemics. A homemade mask sounds worthy of investigation.

I've never wanted to board one of those giant floating germ boxes. My claustrophobia would probably make the voyage uncomfortable anyway. With some Googling I have a better idea how the industry runs, how the ships are registered in other countries to avoid our regulations, and where they get the money to pay for new ships. Some of the money is private investment from global high rollers, now apt to lose their shorts on cruise ship investments as the industry tanks. Very Unfair!! Perhaps we will need to take ownership of the ship to cover the death and financial damages incurred by unloading the passengers here. Doubt if the US will send the ship back to the country it is registered.

I found bread and milk today at the store. No peanut butter. I've set up a disinfecting station in the garage for incoming from the store. Once disinfected everything goes in a transfer tote inside the door. Then all clothes off, into the washing machine, and I scamper into the shower to clean off any potential incoming virus.

So, yes it does make sense to make sweeping restrictions that might affect your choice to visit a BBQ joint in Tejas with your aunt. Most people want to help stop the spread, but a few won't.
