There's a number of rentboys in Stadpark in the center, The InterContinental there is very nice. The on-again off-again hustler bar has moved and renamed. It's now called Alt Lampe and is about 15 blocks south of Stadpark. Both places very ymmv but workable in addition to online gays.

I've stayed several places other than the Schueble though I usually end up there. Avoid cheaper hotels further out as Ubers are outrageously expensive in Zurich. The expensive (even for Zurish) Park Hyatt is "ok" but across the river and sort of plain, inspite of the limousine always in the driveway. The Hotel Central is fine in the middle of Old City and historic. But my favorite for a "wow" factor is the Marriott on the north end of Old Town 5 or 6 blocks above the Paragonya area. If you have Platinum Elite it's possible to upgrade to a 30th or high floor room with an amazing view of Old City, Lake Zurich and the Alps. Right across the little bridge is the main train station and being where the airport highway enters the center, it's 10 minutes to ZRH. Also booking today I found that while United awards are aleady sky-high in Business (175K miles), Premium is only 45K (the lowest PE fare) on some flights..

I usually stay at the Scheuble also. It's 100 feet away and beautiful. The ladies at the desk can be a little intimidating but that's Zurich. The remodel at Paragonya looks like a nice refresh. That's nice because it shows they plan to stay in business which many of us wondered about in that expensive real estate in the center of town with declining numbers. As to time of day.....did you go at noon on a weekday? That sounds more like a weekend time. Americans do need to learn that saunas in EU are daytime things but usually weekends are even earlier than weekday. Also always ask the guy if it's worth coming in. It's the 2-year visa to the US from many countries that's good for several separate visits of up to 90 days each. For 6 months one needs a tourist visa.

I'm not sure his phone number but the agent in Zurich has immediate contact with many of the newly available guys, at least Czechs. His number is often the one on several of the better-known Czech stars' ads and his English is fluent. The guys who work through him rarely handle any arrangements themselves because it's so time-consuming and they lose more than his 30% commission (good to know for repeats directly with the guy). I understand they want to pretend the US doesn't monitor every thing they do, but when a foreign airline is aware that your ESTA has a different pp#, they should let you know so you can immediately and quickly correct it. I'm sure this happens a lot with people assuming their ESTA is still good after getting a new passport. The fix takes a few hours. Even Big Brother could be a little more helpful on silly things.

I think "Modern Monetary Theory" is coming for some tests (I think it will survive). I personally think government can afford unlimited spending and bailouts because it prints the money for it's debt but that only works so long as you're the world currency. With so many major economies going off/being kicked off the dollar now...IDK. MMT and unlimited government spending would be sweet to find out works. amazingly airfares are soaring from last year, especially in awards. there were a few AA/Qantas very cheap awards in 1st for a very few days in/out of LAX but they're gone. I struggle with US/EU to bring my Bel Ami friends over. I just had to deal with a change for a Czech BA friend coming to visit last night and KLM is not super telephone friendly like Virgin. He has a new passport # not the # on his ESTA and they knew this last week evidently from an email telling him to come to the desk for check-in but they mentioned only vaccination cards. If he'd known he could have changed his ESTA pp # in a few hours. At the desk they denied him boarding and told him to go online because they could not change his ticket to another day and there would be no charge. I canceled as they instructed but was on the phone with them from 1am to 6am talking to that same 15 yr old off-shore girl that answers every corporations' help lines (I hope she makes a lot and takes vacations !) I finally got the miles back in and got the last seat for next week online. But she charged me $56 to redeposit, regardless of what the desk said. (I miss the sleep more than the $56.) Be aware that if you have ESTA and get a new passport you must change the passport # on your ESTA. Even though they pretend they're separate, CBP's computers see the difference and the airline denies your boarding. (I have no idea why I'm highlighted)
