No. Ive never of that with an agent. Every now and then the provider will pay the agent the %. Paying up front is a uniquely US trick.

The agent in Prague has been known to, for a small fee, find guys for clients. He used to be a BelAmi guy and somehow has contacts with the new guys BA is priming to introduce. I know my friend Pavol (Steve Starsgard) was set up by the agent with a few guys when he was 18 and had just done a scene with BA that wouldn't be released for a year. Pavol speaks no English. The clients were very satisfied. But usually you don't know you're communicating with the agent in Prague or South Florida. I think they have a different number for each provider's calls. An agent rarely tells you they're an agent and not the person. This leads to some problems sometimes but that's the way they do it.

Czechs do not speak English, or Spanish, or German, or French, or Italian. They speak Czech and many of the guys only speak Czech. Those guys have to have an agent because 90% of customers don't speak Czech. Many of the guys who work in Zurich do not speak German. Your phone does you no good when you speak different languages only and Google Translate is horrible in Czech. My good friend "Roald Ekberg" on Bel Ami, speaks zero besides Czech and just split from the agent. Guys who are visiting Prague or Zurich are having a terrible time getting any response from him now.

In Prague there is one who handles maybe the top quarter of all guys and the guys are much more successful because he does their scheduling. He charges a flat 10%. Their inquiries are answered promptly and politely and scheduling is easy and efficient. They get twice as many clients as they would otherwise even if they spoke English. Depending on how popular they are they pay from 10%-15%. Even if they were fluent in English they say they would never do without an agent for scheduling. There are a few providers who handle their scheduling well. Very few. Even if they're super intelligent they are often busy. It's like a dentist trying to schedule their own appointments and having to constantly get on their phone while at work. Or just not answering.

My beef is that the airlines charge $175 each way if you put a pet in their approved carrier in that personal item. That's ridiculous.
