The worst has not begun and today, I found it hard to go on.

Completely understand. One of the things I hate most about this virus is that "you die alone". Family and friends aren't allowed around and everyone you see is in haz-mat suits and head gear with faces also shielded behind goggles. I've even seen pictures where the patient is also enclosed in a plastic body bubble with arm sleeves for medical attendants. So horrible I know it takes a toll. -
Westworld, Season Two
+ tassojunior replied to + BenjaminNicholas's topic in TV and Streaming services
I agree. I had tried watching Season 1 originally week by week, sometimes missing an episode and later trying to catch up. It's very very hard to remember the storyline that way. The pandemic has given me the opportunity to binge watch from the beginning. Even so I have to rewind often to catch some things. Season 1 took me 2 weeks at 1 per night. I'm hoping season 2 and 3 will be as good. Amazing how many of us are binge watching this. -
My 28 yr old cousin posted his experience today: I received my positive test results this morning after over 2 weeks of dealing with the virus and being in self-isolation. At first, I didn't have any symptoms. But then I started to develop an intermittent fever (which means my temp would spike sometimes as high as 102, but would then go back down to normal) and fatigue. Overall, it wasn't that bad of an experience. Almost like a really bad cold, but I never developed a cough. After about a week, the fever and fatigue started to subside and the shortness of breath started to set in. I was tested last Tuesday, the next day I was STRUGGLING to breathe and I could barely move. I was on the verge of going to the ER (looking back now, I should have). Two days after I was tested, I was diagnosed with pneumonia and started to take antibiotics and decongestants. Over the weekend, my breathing did not improve so I was instructed to get an O2 monitor. My oxygen levels hovered between 90 to 95 for days before it finally got above 95. I'm 28 years old and this virus put me down for 2 WEEKS, worse than any flu I've ever had. The virus itself wasn't that bad for me, but the resulting pneumonia is and was extremely terrifying. Most people probably won't experience severe symptoms. But people who have compromised immune systems and/or underlying health conditions, this virus could put them in LIFE OR DEATH SITUATIONS!

Even when it's over ppl will have to finish watching the streaming series they started. That'll take me a month or two.

Fever is a biggie but the best test is trying to hold breath for 10 seconds. If you can't and are running a high fever then your lungs are possibly going fast with little time to spare to get to help breathing like a ventilator. The lung thing is speed critical.

Ambulance rides are often $1000 to $2000, Sometimes insurance or Medicare covers it, sometimes not. Each city/county has different rules on charges. Maybe it's best to research your area quick to be prepared if it becomes necessary. Some areas even have low-cost private ambulance companies. It may be good news to test negative but less good if it means a $2000 ambulance bill. https://www.consumerreports.org/consumerist/164-per-mile-surprise-ambulance-bills-are-a-growing-problem-difficult-to-avoid/

I was at National Airport DC yesterday (the desk staff are the best). I noticed on the board that while 3/4 of flights were "cancelled", 1/4 were "On time" . We saw a lot of American planes landing too. My impression was they were mostly AA commuter planes, ie: Republic Airlines. The airport was nearly empty and antiseptic.

You have to contact them directly to see if they are open to any sort of meeting.

OK. Then for Latins without a language problem San Juan may be good. My preference is Columbia.

Do any of you know if there's a way to save photos from Instagram?

I open on my phone and swipe screenshot then email it to myself and open and save in Windows. -
You do understand borders are all closed for the foreseeable future?

Has this crisis helped you define meaning in your life?

I hope so because I'm going to run out of stuff to binge watch. -
Dakota Cochrane. He's a very famous MMA fighter with a family. There were many stories when he was revealed a long time ago.

The amazing resourcefulness of human beings

lol. That story's about C-PAP machines being used. Many of us here use C-PAP for better sleeping. They didn't invent it in under a week; they copied it in under a week. -
Zoom is zooming.

I think in many ways this will be one of those events that accelerates changes that were coming anyway. Why Amazon and Instacart are hiring 100,000 new permanent employees. Working at home and teleconferencing like Zoom make office buildings less and less relevant. If $20K college courses can be taught online what else can? Cheap electricity makes small personal vehicles prevalent and gas is cheap. People won't flock back to subways and buses. Goodbye movie theaters, hello streaming. Professionally-prepared food tastes just as good delivered at home and without the 20% tip. All these remote activities were already growing before this latest world virus. This one will make them prevalent. Automatic border screening for virus when a pandemic strikes should be the rule in the future. And travel from hotspots should be automatically barred until there's a test for the new virus.
-
Hopefully once the tests become prevalent some travel will return upon proof of test. Also, once the antibody test comes many people will learn they have probable immunity and can venture out.

What would you do with $2,000+ in flight Credits
+ tassojunior replied to + VictorPowers's topic in The Lounge
What happens to partially-used roundtrips? Friends have a return left to Europe in late May on American that originated in Europe. I guess driving to the airport and talking to a desk wizard is the best method if social media fails. -

American is flying Miami to LAX for $34 roundtrip. JetBlue is $26 RT. Buy up a whole plane and stretch out. https://viewfromthewing.com/13-cross-country-airfares-but-why-are-airlines-pricing-below-marginal-cost/ -
