I'm glad I wasn't the only one! I use "Private Internet Access" aka PIA. I was impressed when they were served with a subpoena to reveal information on one of their users and they replied that all data was encrypted start to finish. And that they stored no data, and had no means of unencrypting the traffic that went through their servers. As an added bonus it's easy to use and works fairly well.....but nothing is foolproof.

This past winter I was out at a gay social event. I didn't know anyone there. It was all light cocktail party talk. One of the younger guys in my circle started playing with his phone, I just assumed he was a text addicted Millennial. After less than 10 seconds he looks right at me and says "wow, you look a lot different in the summer". He only knew my first name and the general area of New York where I live. He was looking at pictures of me that clearly identified my profession and place of employment. Although you could tell to him it was just harmless curiosity, it was a little disturbing to me and a wake up call. In today's world everything about you is discoverable in 10 seconds or less. I understand your escort's reaction. Unfortunately, looking everyone you meet up online is the new socially acceptable norm and being offended just makes you look like a clueless old geezer.

On a lighter note: I've mentioned this before but I once learned the real name of an escort I saw for several years. I much preferred his stage name. It was 1,000 times sexier to me. Funny enough he was clearly offended whenever I used his stage name instead of his real name. Back to the topic, I have accentially learned the real name of several escorts over the years. I have never revealed that knowledge to any of them and I would expect the same in return.

I guess we'll have to disagree on this one. I just don't see her as liable for his desicisons....even if she encouraged them. We are all responsible for our own fates. Blaming others is easy but pointless.

This story is a tragedy on all sides. I do think the judge's ruling takes us into very dangerous and unchartered waters, and I personally disagree with it. What she did was irresponsible, but it wasn't manslaughter. It's one more reason I don't text or email anything more than..... "I'm running 5 minutes late" "I'm at the cash register....where are you?" "Are you free for dinner tonight?" Anything deeper than that.....is a well documented mine field that I do not wish to enter.
