A young man who I see often in SoCal and I did a little experiment one evening. After a lovely French dinner (he’d never enjoyed French cuisine before), we walked a mile or so past a bunch of bars and restaurants along the Balboa Peninsula beach walk. Not a person even noticed or said anything. It’s a different world now. Some providers like to kiss on departure from an airport or hotel. I used to be nervous about others’ reactions. I spend a fair amount of time in Europe, and I agree that the clothing styles have converged over the recent years. In Austria and Germany the kids often wear skater clothes and similar jeans and sneakers. I agree with the comments about American women. One also sees a number of older men with the following: grandpa jeans or cargo shorts, plastic baseball hats that often feature the ship on which the wearer served, the ubiquitous white vinyl sneakers, and white tube socks. There is a string that discusses how musclemen often grow fat as they age. I can’t imagine that all of the supplements these guys consume have a beneficial hormonal effect down the road. Although I think I have rarified tastes, at the end they’re my tastes, and not relevant for others, which is why I try to refrain from questioning others’ tastes in men.

Yeah, but in this world one presumes that beauty is the attribute that first seizes one’s attention. It does seem that hairier dad bods and steroidal muscle boys are much in favor these days. There seemed to more more classically handsome and cute twinks in years past, however.
