My parents used to buy canned Egg Nog in bulk at Costco to last throughout the year, for making French Toast (see below). But we never drank it outside of the Advent season.
-
My mother discovered that making French Toast was super easy and tasty by buying French Bread, dipping in Egg Nog, then grilling both sides. So I am familiar with the taste. What are Egg Nog Pancakes? Just Egg Nog poured on the grill, or does it need to be mixed with something?

Then I guess suggesting the Costco pharmacy is no good either

Reservations Required?
+ Vegas_Millennial replied to + Vegas_Millennial's topic in Museums and Parks
I went to the Art Institute of Chicago last year (post Pandemic), and reservations were not required. The website is very misleading. I re-read and it says "Reservations are required for touchless entry". They are completely silent on the fact that reservations are not required if you don't mind touching money and tickets. The website says they honor City Pass with a skip the line opportunity. Now why would there be a line if reservations are required? But thanks for sharing. -
Are there any famous must-see museums which require advanced reservations? (Not just suggested reservations). I am particularly interested in Vienna and London. I will spend 5 nights in each city this summer, and would rather just show up to one museum each day and not have to reserve everything in advance. In the US, I only know of: Los Angeles: The Getty Villa in Malibu requires reservations in order to manage parking DC: The White House requires reservations & background checks months in advance New York: The UN requires reservations. The Statue of Liberty requires reservations, selling out months in advance. The New York Transit museum in Brooklyn requires reservations, but this might be temporary for caronavirus.

Winter heating bills - heads up!

I plan on avoiding winter by spending 5 weeks in warmer climates (3 weeks in Puerto Vallarta at Christmas, 2 weeks in Florida and the Caribbean at Washington's Birthday). -
Winter heating bills - heads up!
+ Vegas_Millennial replied to BeamerBikes's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
I keep throw blankets on my drawing room sofas and near my bed. If it gets too cold I use them instead of hearing the entire house. So far the heat has not come on this year. We've reached freezing at night but the days are in the 60s and that combined with cooking and laundry and general living in the house has kept the temperatures inside above 72 day and night. If natural gas prices have increased by as much as you say, then my typical $25/month winter has bill may soar to $40 by January when it really gets here. -
Does your supermarket have a pharmacy? After I was turned away from Walgreens and CVS, I walked into my supermarket and got the flu shot with only 1 person ahead of me in line.

Should US/others simply walk out of the World Cup?
+ Vegas_Millennial replied to a topic in The Sports Desk
Since we are limited to discussing the game only and not politics, walking off the field would result in a definite loss. I am reminded of Jesse Owens in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. He could have walked out in response to the treatment from the host country. But instead he stayed and won 4 gold medals. This was an accomplishment for him, his country, and for showcasing the ignorance of the host country. Winning brings more influence than losing. We should stay and play and win! -
Or an "uptick"

The situation is not any worse for people older than 65 than it was 2 years ago, it just got a lot better for people under 65. The significant drop in deaths for people under 65 has increased the share of deaths over 65, but not the total number of deaths for that age group.

Additional Security at LGBTQ Establishments?
+ Vegas_Millennial replied to + keroscenefire's topic in The Lounge
In Las Vegas, the few gay establishments with security checks are the ones frequented the most by out of town straight female tourists and their boyfriends. The dozens of gay bars throughout the city which are frequented by locals usually only have security in the parking lot to keep the vehicles from being broken into. On a busy Saturday night they might also check identification for age, but this is not the norm. I can't speak for what the lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning bars do for security. -
From cdc.gov: Up to 90% of flu deaths are with people over 65 years old (varies 70%-90% annually) 88% of pneumonia deaths are with people over 70 years old. 82% of Heart Disease deaths are with people over 65 years old. 74% of all deaths are with people over 65 years old. 70% of Cancer deaths are with people over 65 years old. Men over 65 face the highest suicide rate. 2nd highest suicide rate is people over 85 (both genders). Drivers over age 70 have higher rates of death in car crashes per crash. Conclusion: We're better off dying before age 65. It's too dangerous otherwise.

In the USA, men of black ethnicity were the highest victims of monkeypox. In some weeks they were the largest group by sheer numbers, but certainly in all weeks they had the highest rate of monkeypox infection when adjusted for their percentage of population (for example, 26% of total infections but only represent 12% of the total population). https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/response/2022/demographics.html I have noticed a similar trend in advertisements for HIV Prep in the USA. A recent television commercial for the HIV Prep injection shows about 18 people: 16 men, 2 women. 13 black, 3 brown, 2 white.

Thanksgiving pies: tradition or personal preference?
+ Vegas_Millennial replied to a topic in The Lounge
I always have pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving, but pumpkin pie is one of my favorite pies! If I'm hosting a large group I'll consider offering a 2nd pie that I enjoy but also fits the season: either Pumpkin Cheesecake or Apple Pie. If I'm invited to a friend's house for Thanksgiving, I offer to bring pumpkin pie if the host was planning on making pecan pie or other pie. I will be polite and have a slice of the pie they prepared as well as the pumpkin pie I brought. -

My General Practitioner has started doing housecalls since the uptick of telemedicine has made working without an office more feasible. But when I visit Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, I seek out a medical clinic when needed instead of relying on a hotel doctor or finding a General Practitioner to make a hotel visit. So 4 WIW, when in PV with an STI and need a GP, find a clinic rather than rely on Hotel GP, but YMMV. GL, SS, &HF! TTFN -
I once hired a Dutch escort while in Mexico. The rate we agreed upon was in Pesos. But when I went to pay him (at the end of the session) he said he preferred US Dollars and gave me a discount to pay him in US Dollars instead of Pesos. I happily obliged.

Although he's gorgeous no matter what he calls himself, I actually preferred his original screen name of JewishJock. The name set him apart from the crowd, making it easier to remember his profile from asking the thousands in New York.

I had the pleasure of seeing Alexey today. He gives a very good massage, looks like his pictures, nice personality, very reasonable price. I'll be booking him more for massage.
