Brall, this is a very sad story. Absent the thank you you deserve, please try to take solace, and maybe after that some happiness, that you helped some men who are currently faced with terrible scarcity.

I too have read countless stories on the internet and personal stories from acquaintances who go to countries like Brazil, Morocco, Thailand, the Philippines etc looking for "love'' or thinking the boys actually care about them. The harsh reality is that we want sex and the boys in saunas, go go bars etc want money, and as much as they can get.
I have a friend who has 4 university degrees (including a PhD) who met a boy in Morocco about 15 years ago. He has paid for his education, health, rent and ad hoc amounts for every conceivable reason. Along with all his local friends I am gobsmacked at his gullibility. The individual known as Trilingual who set up the Gay Travel Brazil website I have read on BoyToy came to grief after marrying his Brazilian boyfriend and if these reports are to be believed is virtually destitute.
At least one story I read on the now very quiet Cruising for Sex site some years ago was very amusing. This American met a go go boy in Pattaya, Thailand. The boy invited him to the family home in the countryside. On arrival mother announced that her refrigerator had broken down and it would cost the equivalent of a couple of hundred dollars to replace it and would he oblige. He agreed. The boy told him he would write his name in texta on the side of the refrigerator to remind him of their ''love''. He found himself alone in the house and discovered the name of a foreigner on the side of the stove, microwave, TV and every other electrical appliance and stick of furniture in the house. I sent him a PM telling I found the story delightful and he had made my day. He replied back assuring me it was true. I replied back telling him I didn't doubt it for a moment. I have been to Thailand about a dozen times and that story was pure unadulterated Thai.
I must confess to being rather cynical about ''love'' but on balance I think it is better to be cynical than conned, or worse have your heart broken.

Still irritated, Marge replies “I suck a lifesaver.”

Puzzled…, Clara asks “who drives you to the beach?”

Multiple reviews on him nearly a half year later, and all but 1 are bad. He slashed his rate to $80 during the pandemic. He claims to be hing instead of hung, so I've no interest to hure him.

I was “introvert-shamed”, for many years, until my mid 30s, and started living in my truth.
Previously I was pressured into an extroverted lifestyle, which I never really liked (group trips, constant interactions with people I didn’t choose to be in my presence, and social activities I felt obligated to). Even as a child, I was forced into attending family functions playing with other kids (as at that time “socializing” children, was supposed to be a positive aspect of raising them.) Coming into “gay world”, was daunting for me as well, as I was bombarded with social interactions with snarky, vapid, obnoxious, inauthentic people who drained me to the core. I literally needed a “social detox”.

I did a mental “spring cleaning”, close to five years ago and haven’t looked back.

I now enjoy my solitude and love traveling alone, sightseeing alone, and enjoying quality time with people that I CHOOSE to be around ( I have a small selection of great, authentic friends whom I respect, and truly like being around).

I do what I want to do, on my terms, with no pressures of social obligations.

I now live in my truth as an introvert, and I love it!!!!!

Love this. While this didn't happen in the current era, once upon a time I was in the express checkout lane at a grocery store and there was someone in the line with a cart full of stuff. People in line were calling out the guy, who ignored them, which made them get more agitated. When he got to the checker, people started addressing her about it. She put up her hand and said "I got this". She rang up his allowed 15 items and told him if he wanted the rest of the stuff in his cart he would have to go through the line again. He swore and claimed he was taking care of his sick mother and couldn't be expected to stand in a line. She said no, and he walked out, leaving everything. People started applauding.

I belong to a website called Nextdoor. If you don't know it, it's a forum organized around neighborhoods. You have to prove where you live to join. Many neighbors have posted offers to shop for those who can't get out, to provide toilet paper to the desperate, and so on. One older lady posted her gratitude for a neighbor who knocked on her door and offered to get whatever she needed at Costco.

While this is not grocery shopping related, I hope this puts into perspective the limits to the number of people in a store at one time, out of stock pasta, and the horrors of using bottled lemon juice.

My colleague's 34 year old daughter is an IT worker in Seattle. She also tested positive for COVID-19 after experiencing flu-like symptoms. She is quarantined at home with not only her fiance and her compromised immune system (not sure of the exact condition) but pneumonia, fever, and non-stop coughing. Due to a lack of available hospital beds and her condition not being classified as "critical" she can't be admitted to a hospital. My colleague lives in San Diego and is beside herself with worry, dread, sadness, and fear. All the while she is cheerfully doing her part to keep our bank open and running for our clients.

I’m a member of my local Nextdoor site. The other day, an elderly woman posted that she’d pay anyone who would be willing to pick up essentials for her and her husband, both of whom have medical conditions which makes them high risk. There were easily 40 replies from people who offered to do it for free now or anytime in the future, people who offered to bring home-cooked meals to them, and one woman who ordered several meals for them via Door Dash after communicating with them privately.

There’s more that unites us than separates us. We need to remember this after the virus scare recedes.

This is an easy question for me to answer... I see guys walking down the street or in public places and often assess their attractiveness by asking myself, Would I blow him? I never ask myself, Would I like him to blow me?
