  1. You can still find a nice 1 bedroom in Manhattan for less than $3k, if you avoid midtown. You can live very comfortable (if not luxurious) on $120k a year. Most of my friends do. (I have insider knowledge since I do their taxes and see all their finances). 🤓
  2. I remember you asked the same questions before, like 3 months ago. Did you act on the advice you were given?
  3. I usually have Koyfin running on a separate screen - not sure I would say it is “better”. For news feeds, I also use Yahoo Finance (and have for many years).
  4. Honest answer: the current vaccine is fairly new so hard data is almost impossible to compile. Even an estimate would be borderline guessing.
  5. When you are facing a recession, you want a strong middle class consumer at your back. That worries me the most - we no longer have that. The uber wealthy wont save you from a recession. Blaming “the government” is an easy answer but rather short sighted. Its like blaming the toothbrush for your cavities. There were recessions before there were governments, just like there were cavities before there were toothbrushes.
  6. I considered it years ago when I came into a windfall. Return rate was low and commission/fees were eye watering at the time. Would be nice to have a fixed “personal pension” but the cost vs. benefit did not work for me.
  7. 17,000 Appointments will be up for grabs at 6pm, according to their press release on twitter.
  8. I agree, I like his behavioral approach to budgeting and saving. Cannot recommend him for investing advice - he keeps pushing mutual funds that carry loads (fees and commissions) and that does not sit well with me. 🤷‍♂️ Also the religious undertone is sometimes a bit much.
  9. Perhaps consider hiring a financial advisor who is a teacher at heart, who is happy to educate you as part of the service. 🙂
  10. Now that is a Blue Light Special I can appreciate! 😉
  11. I forward all of these text to 7726 (Federal Trade Commission SPAM line) then I block the number. I dont reply or click on any links - too risky.

Maybe the one set of pics was him and the other his roommate Riley he mentions in his profile… 🤔
  13. From USA Today. CBS news earlier this week. There - you are caught up. 🤓

  15. I hear this all the time - folks confuse smallpox vaccine with chickenpox vaccine. Smallpox vaccine will provide protection for monkeypox, chickenpox vaccine won’t. Please do consult with a medical professional - I am not one. Ive just been reading up.
  16. New York City.
  17. I dont follow your meaning. There are plenty of resources, starting with the CDC, your state health department and your primary care physician. I got the vaccine last week. Most of my friends and acquaintances in the gay community got their vaccines in the past week or have it lined up for the coming week. Where are you located? If in a smaller city the risk of transmission is probably lower but the vaccine should be available shortly if not already. To date nobody has died in the USA to my knowledge, as treatment options are available. Chin up, fella.
  18. Some people have all the luck! Applied for renewal in January and have not heard anything back. 😔
  19. Do you mean Bastille day? Or the delightful confluence of events where today is National Nude day AND National Tape Measure day? (Coincidence? I don’t think so!!) 😆
  20. Immunity from vaccination wears off as time passes, just like natural immunity. Please provide the source of your misinformation. 🙄
  21. I am sure that is a great comfort to those who died from the disease before a vaccine was available. 🙄
  22. In NYC I provided my contact details and was told I would be contacted to schedule my 2nd shot. They appear to have the intention to make sure everyone gets two shots. The cute nurse that gave me the shot said “you are only considered fully vaccinated 4 weeks after your 2nd shot”. But they may have been trying to impress me (they did admire my biceps!) 😆
  23. He was so adorable - projected a sense of innocence that was irresistable!
  24. I talked to my friends in Europe (Germany and UK) and they have similar problems getting their hands on the Jynneos vaccine - the NHS in the UK placed a large order on July 1 but delivery of the bulk of the order is targeted for last quarter of the year. The USA placed a smaller order but did get the order in sooner. The manufacturer is a small Danish company with limited capacity. At the moment demand outstrips supply for everyone, basically everywhere.
  25. I got mine yesterday - it's been more than 24 hours and I have not had any reaction, adverse or otherwise (no spider-senses yet!). Arm is a little tender, just like when I get the flu shot. Not stopping me from doing any of my planned Sunday activities. The vaccine has been approved for years - I did some searching and asked my PCP about it before I made the appointment and was told it is safe and recommended.
