Well, if there is an “economic hurricane” coming…make sure you have the basics covered. If you are single, I recommend having 9 months worth of living expenses in cash or cash equivalents (like CDs) where you can get to it quick if needed. Then you can start thinking about returns. “Insurance” first, “investments” second. 😉

Listening to bank earnings calls today - it sounds like the CEOs feel that banks, at least, are in a good position to weather the coming storm. Things will be rough for the next year, market wise. A “soft landing” seems more and more unlikely. So buckle up, cup cake! 🤓

You are a good friend for helping a friend in need. I would take the same approach of suggesting that she keeps the money, if she tries to pay you back. Would not suggest she use it to spluge but rather that she keeps it in reserve for the next inevitable emergency…it happens to all of us and knowing she has it ready to break her fall will likely go a long way to help her restore her spirits, unlike a weekend trip which will be long forgotten by the time the next emergency shows up. My 2c.

I have to disagree. That is the same logic that allows gay people to be fired, just because they are gay and choose to go to gay bars. Being gay and going to a gay bar does not impact my ability to underwrite a loan at the bank where I work. Being gay and kinky at home does not impact his ability to provide a weather forecast. It’s not like he is asking his employer (NY1) to make any special allowances to support his kinky behavior. Unlike a recent applicant who HR allowed to bring his emotional support animal (a potbelly pig) to the office. The mess was incredible and the customer complaints (and impact) were very real.

So we (old white men primarily) get to be the morality police? No thanks! He’s not being prosecuted or sued, he hasnt done anyone any harm that I can point to. We keep saying “it’s a free country” - maybe we should start meaning it.

But I understand your confusion, @StarGZ edited his posts after the fact so it is hard to keep up with what, my high school English teacher would call, “verbal diarrhea”. Glad to report that “Dean” isn’t one of my multiple personalities. I have not met him and I am not him. Just to be clear.

The problem isnt that he had fun on webcam as a public figure. It is that we, Americans, confuse prudish close mindedness with moral values. It’s none of our business what he gets up to behind closed doors. He isnt hurting anyone! He isnt flashing his nuts to school girls in a public park! Who are we to frown upon his fun and desire?
