Jumping in to offer this perspective: I haven't lost interest in hiring at all, unfortunately for my wallet. However, I hesitate more because of the way bareback has become the norm. I think the trend is unfortunate for these reasons: First, it's very tempting. Bareback IS so much more exciting. Second, I really don't want to go on PrEP, long term affects have not been studied, I'd worry about not complying with the regimen, and honestly I just hate taking chronic meds. I whole heartily agree about Sauna Thermas. I went 3 times within the last week and was thrilled by the number, variety and quality of the rentboys. I met guys from Spain, Egypt, Romania, Bulgaria, Panama and many from Brazil. The sauna is very clean and seems to be well managed. It doesn't have the same friendly vibe as Meio Mundo in Rio but it easily matches the quality and quantity of guys in Club 117. As with the saunas in Rio, it very definitely helps to know some Spanish (most of the Brasileiros speak Spanish as well as Porteguese).
 
As a side note, I totally fell in love with a stunning man from Brazil. Also spent some time in Madrid and made the obligatory trip to Sauna Adan. All I can say about Adan is, ho-hum. My initial visits to Barcelona were with friends. They chose to stay at the Expo Hotel in Barcelona. This is a decent hotel with fairly inexpensive large rooms. It is close to many sites and especially close to the sauna. It is possible to walk to the sauna in about ten minutes from the Expo Hotel. As I said, it is a decent hotel but it is not luxurious, by any means.
 
I traveled alone during my last several trips to Barcelona. Therefore, I decided to try various hotels. The last hotel I tried was the new Crown Plaza Hotel in Barcelona which is ten minutes walk to the sauna. Being a new hotel (with huge rooms) makes for pleasant surroundings. However, the hotel is not near any restaurants or walking sights but it is close to the sauna.
 
Hilton Hotels bought an existing hotel in Barcelona earlier this year and renamed it Doubletree by Hilton. I will be trying that hotel on my next trip. That hotel is also about a ten minute walk to the sauna.

I returned to Barcelona, Spain, and visited Sauna Thermas again. Even though I was pleased during my prior visits, the place, last night, was better than I ever found it.
 
The selection of rent boys is beyond description. The ratio of clients to rent boys was about four to one last night. When I return today, the ratio might be different but I suspect the turn out to be good.
 
With a few exceptions, there was a larger ratio of exceptionally good looking rent boys than usual.
 
Even though, last night, most of the rent boys were Brazilian and Cuba and Colombian, many were from Eastern Europe. Therefore, at Sauna Thermas, there is something to please just about anyone.
 
Even though I tuly enjoy the Brazilian saunas and their offerings, there is no doubt that Barcelona is better, in many ways.

The prices at Sauna Thermas for an evening, including a visit with a rent boy, are cheaper than in Brazil, factoring in entrance and facility costs and all.

You know, aging is a bitch, but I decided about 6 or 7 years ago that it wasn’t taking me down without a fight. In other words, I wasn’t just going to give in and let it take me. So, I started to take care of myself and try to get into decent shape!
 
A lot of guys may have better answers for you, but to address your question and share what I do:
 
1) I eat sensibly for my goals. I allow myself a splurge here and there, but that is the exception and not the rule. What you eat is a huge part of the equation. High protein and depending on time of year and my goals I may be higher fats or higher carbs.
 
2) I weight train 4 to 5 times a week. I have gone through spells of intensive cardio. Lately it’s been more weight training and I do so at a pace that keeps my heart rate up. I have worked out alone and with a personal trainer. Currently, I have a trainer, and have done about the last year and a half. He pushes me even more then I push myself and it takes the burden off of me to plan what I do next. Plus, the accountability is helpful.
 
3) As for skin, I need to do better there. However, I use Kiehls products daily - nothing extreme, but I like them. I’m sure someone else can recommend better, and I’d love to hear other routines. As I age, I am trying to moisturize more, but I have naturally oily skin.
 
4) Grooming. Overall I keep my hair short and it grows fast, so I have it cut every 7 to 14 days right now. Shave daily. To keep things clean.
 
I have considered some Botox, but haven’t gone there yet. I likely will in coming years to reduce lines on my face, but I’m not obsessive about that. I do have gray hair coming in, but I do not intend to color it. I figure it could be turning gray or turning loose...it’s doing the former and not the latter, so I will be thankful for that. ??

"Thanks" is polite but for me, it's unclear if you just were information gathering and you'll be back minutes/days/weeks later to schedule some time together, or if it's not in your budget, or what. I'm the kind of guy who doesn't want to add pressure and I hope that if someone wants something, they would say so. I can also understand that there is a "no haggling" sort of thing going around, and I don't love when someome comes right out of the gate trying to haggle, but if someone were to say to me that it's a bit out of their budget, I would at least have a conversation about what we could make work.
 
I also like @Mikegaite suggestion of thinking about what you might want to offer or provide to "make up" the difference in what you can find financially and what the provider asks. For example, I have a regular client here in NYC that I give a discount on my rate to because he is not only a regular patron, but he also regularly gives me an extra bottle of poppers or a couple of jockstraps, and frequenly has me over for dinner or takes me out for lunch. We've negotiatied through it all and it works for both of us.
