  1. I have this 45: It was co-written by Ms. Midler, Bruce Roberts, & the ex-Mrs. Burt Bacharach, who had her own version: Wonder Woman gets into the act: Even Norma Rae gave it a try: Let's try it with a Swedish accent: I once saw Bonnie Franklin sing it on a talk show, but can't find a video of it.
  2. Why didn't you post the DEFINITIVE version of that song? Valerie Bertinelli's & Mackenzie Phillips' mom's version:
  3. Why didn't you post the DEFINITIVE version of that song? Valerie Bertinelli's & Mackenzie Phillips' mom's version:
  4. I didn't go through this whole thread, but did anybody mention THIS great cover? This is the entire 17:32 side of the album: or THIS one? How about THESE:? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjhSc1P5ONQ
  5. Speaking of classic covers by The Carpenters: The original was by a group named Klaatu (Richard Carpenter saw Bette Midler singing this on The Tonight Show & thought it would be perfect for Karen.) (BTW, WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN started out as a bank commercial, before Richard saw it & asked the authors to adapt it into a full-length version..) (Elton was able to improve The Beatles AND The Who!) THE ORIGINAL: Olivia's sister, Juice Newton-John, did the cover:
  6. Of course, anybody who covers a Beatles song is a good bet to improve it: Urethra Franklin: Elton John: The Carpenters (twice): The Chipmunks: (this entire album was a classic!)
  7. how I LOATHE her destruction of that song. One NY radio station talked about the Whitney Houston car alarm... I-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI... will always love (LOATHE) you, I-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI-eI...
  8. The original classic: The excellent cover:
  9. Speaking of discount albums... I stumbled upon a classic... a brilliant comedy album... Totie Fields live in Vegas for 79 cents in the discount section of Sam Goody's (a record store... remember those?).
  10. I remember when he was married to James Mason's sister Marsha. A favorite childhood memory... I went to the record department (remember those?) in Alexander's department store. At the register they were selling 'The Simon Sisters sing for children' for ten cents. Obviously, it was a big seller. They had a stack, but I stupidly bought only 2... they made great gag gifts. When gift-wrapped, the recipient obviously knew it was an album & got excited... until it was unwrapped!
  11. 13. I think Paul's siblings Neil & Carly are more talented than he is.
  14. I just like seeing Alaina's eyes cross when she hits the high notes. By the way, with that voice, she's obviously going to college to study NEUROSCIENCE. I'm envisioning a medical version of COP ROCK in her future.
  15. Funny, considering I started the thread... about delightful singing (duets). It's not about choreography that may or may not have been brilliant, but was definitely (at least at times) incredibly boring, or at least set to incredibly boring musical numbers. We just got off on a tangent when I was reminded of that horrible, psyche-scarring (and wallet-draining) evening years ago when I attempted to sit through an evening highlighting the career of a possibly over-hyped 'legend'. That's several hundred hours (or so it seemed) of my life I'll never get back.
  16. I stand corrected. He directed and choreographed some incredibly boring material.
  17. I'm NOT judging him. I have no idea (or interest in) what he was like as a person. I'm just saying he wrote some incredibly boring material. No wonder that dame who's warbling with Ethel Zimmermann in that clip gave birth to such an evil oil tycoon... he was probably forced to listen to his mother singing showtunes throughout his youth, & the experience obviously warped him! BTW, I've never understood Ms. Zimmermann's appeal. It's like listening to a Mack truck horn sing.
  18. Jerome Robbins' Broadway was one of only 2 Broadway shows I ever walked out of (the other was HurlyBurly). I left at intermission, the two people I was with left after the first number in the second act. They should've called it Jerome Robbins' Boredway.
  19. I have a JohnDenver Greatest Hits CD & always liked his duet with Placido.
  20. She bowled us over in TV spots, but now Diana Hunter, the “Honey Bunches of Oats lady,” is retiring from the company — and its commercials — after 40 years. The Honey Bunches of Oats cereal company’s employee-turned-commercial-star, Diana Hunter, is retiring from her factory job in production after a 40-year career. Hunter first appeared in a commercial for the Post cereal brand in 2015 from the floor of the Battle Creek, Michigan plant where she worked. One of Hunter’s co-workers told BuzzFeed that she retired on Friday and that she’s a “good friend that will be missed.” Hunter won over fans with her approachable charm and endearing storytelling. In an Oats commercial she’s featured in, Hunter called the cereal she was working with “sparkle flakes.” “When you taste it, you think it’s a sparkle,” she said. “A sparkle in your eye.” But it was in the first commercial she’s featured in where Hunter spooned her way into households across the country. She talked about how she once had to let someone know the sweet smell in the air around them was actually her. “I get out of work and I got to the store and somebody smells around, ‘Mmm, I smell cookies,'” she recalled. “I said, ‘Oh no, you just smell me. I just got out of work. That’s Honey Bunches of Oats!'” Hunter’s ad – complete with a hairnet and red hard hat – ran nationwide, thousands of times, for about a year.

The first thing I bought was an iPod, some glasses Dolce & Gabbana for my mom and a perfume for my girlfriend. For me, some lenses, were outrageous 300 euros. Those 2000 euros were as much, I thought I had reached the top. “ One of his worst moments abroad. Once he travelled to London for a photo shoot and was detained at the airport. At the time he only spoke Portuguese and did not know what was happening. Marlon says he was handcuffed and placed in a cell with a concrete bed, and given only a bottle of water and a sandwich for several hours. Thankfully he was helped by a Portuguese speaking Italian. Marlon still does not know why he was detained as his papers were in order. Because some cop wanted to give him a cavity search.
