  1. ABBA's virtual concert has opened and is getting raves for its realism. It sounds interesting and fun. Who would've thought Industrial Light & Magic could pull off something like this? https://www.companyofmen.org/topic/89515-a-pleasant-surprise-35-years-later/?do=findComment&comment=2007132
  2. Why don't you fantasize about deflowering a 119 year old next time? Variety is the spice of life!
  3. Wegman's biggest fan has died at 92. https://www.companyofmen.org/topic/109558-you-know-its-alec-baldwins-mothers-favorite-supermarket/?do=findComment&comment=1400497
  4. Abba Voyage review: jaw-dropping avatar act that’s destined to be copied Any sense you’re not actually in the presence of the band dissolves during a setlist of crowd-pleasing hits https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/may/26/abba-voyage-review-jaw-dropping-avatar-act-thats-destined-to-be-copied Abba Voyage: The band's virtual concert needs to be seen to be believed The four members of Abba made their first public appearance in 14 years as they attended the premiere of their Abba Voyage show in London. Agnetha, Frida, Benny and Bjorn reunited for the opening night of the concert, which features digital versions of the band. Frida watched the show with a wide grin across her face, while Benny stood up and clapped along to Dancing Queen. They took a curtain call at the end, to deafening applause from the audience. "Abba has never left us, in my heart," singer Agnetha Faltskog told the BBC on the red carpet. "It was not such a difficult decision [to reunite] because the music is part of us." https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-61592104 The album has brought me such joy in the 6+ months it's been out. I never thought I'd hear anything new from them.
  5. How terribly sad for you.
  6. Matt's spectacular HBP ignited a three run rally to break a scoreless tie in the 6th. Nestor was back to being Nasty after giving up a season-high 3 runs last time out. 8 shutout innings, 3 hits, career high 105 pitches. I can't believe Boone let him start the 9th. He threw 4 more pitches, gave up a hit & left for Wandy Peralta, who let the runner score, making Cortes' ERA skyrocket to 1.70. With their injuries & recent bullpen troubles they'd be in really bad shape if the starters hadn't been so brilliant lately. Starting with their double header loss: Taillon 7 IP, 1R Severino 7 IP, 0R Cole 8 IP 0BB 11K, but 5 runs because of one bad inning Montgomery 6 IP + one batter, 2R JP Sears 1st ML start 5 IP, 0R The Nasty One 8 IP + one batter, 1R
  7. Apparently there is a scene in THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE that is causing some clutching of pearls and bunching of panties. I don't watch the show but I think it's a work of fiction. https://nypost.com/2022/05/25/time-travelers-wife-fans-shocked-by-disturbing-oral-sex-scene/
  8. Oscar winner Jodie Foster will star in the upcoming fourth season of the HBO crime anthology, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Season 4 — officially titled True Detective: Night Country — will take place in the frigid Arctic regions of Alaska, per the official description: “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.” https://tvline.com/2022/05/26/jodie-foster-true-detective-season-4-hbo-cast/
  9. Speaking of ancient, over-the-hill Cardinals hanging on by the skin of their teeth (beaks?), the Yanks have signed Matt 'Doesn't Sing Like Karen' Carpenter to a major league deal. He's DHing & batting 8th tonight. He was raking in the minors for Texas, but they don't want oldsters on their team, so they let him go to pursue other opportunities. Failed former phenom Manny Banuelos will also be with the team for their 4 game set in Tampon Tampa. MLB and the union said March 31 that a 13-pitcher limit would be enforced starting May 2, then on April 16 announced the date had been pushed back to May 30. They said Thursday that the 13-pitcher limit will be enforced starting June 20, allowing each team to have 14 pitchers until then. MLB and the union said the change was made as they continue to monitor player health.
  10. Order a large pan pizza with meatballs/beef & onions for me.
  11. There are 2 near me, & one had the Y and second E unlit for a long time, making it POPE'S.
  12. Can she please take her Verizon commercials with her on her way out the door!
  13. I have an idea for a spin-off: COOKING & CLEANING FOR THE KARDASHIANS Camera crews follow the household staff to see how they react to the ridiculousness of their employers. Offer Kris Jenner even the slightest amount of money and she'll sign off on it, despite the potential for embarrassment.
  14. Renowned lousy relief pitcher Albert Pujols pinch hit for the adorable Nolan Arenado in today's 18-4 rout of the Pirates and homered, then stayed in the game and hit another. He now has four, and is hitting .231. St. Louis trotted out another overmatched reliever, some guy named Yadier, and he almost blew this game, turning an 18-0 rout into an 18-4 nailbiter before he finally finished it off.
  15. No horsing around Police encounter 'drunk Amish guy' slumped over in moving buggy
  16. The other night when Nathan Eovaldi gave up 5 HRs in one inning, one fan atop the Green Monster caught 2 of them. Tonight, one night after Trevor Story broke out of an awful season-long slump with 3 HRs, he hit a grand slam, which was caught by former Bosox & Rays player Jonny Gomes. So... can the rest of the fans actually catch any?
  17. Dear Abby: I am a freshman at a Midwestern university, and I love it. I finished my first semester with straight A’s, and my second semester has been strong. I have a great group of friends and have already made plenty of memories. My problem is I have been having a disagreement with my mom. I would like to rush a sorority in the fall, and while my dad is fine with it, my mother won’t even entertain the topic. I’ve never shared a lot with her regarding my social life because she has always been very strict (for instance, my dad knows I enjoy tailgating and partying as long as my grades are good). I am very responsible and always take care of everything that needs to be completed before I let myself have fun. Dad knows this and trusts me. However, I couldn’t fathom telling my mom about it. I think part of the problem is she grew up abroad, and when she came to the U.S. for college in the 1990s, she faced a severe culture shock. We have always been very different people. Contrary to what she may think, my main reason for joining a sorority is not “to party.” It’s an attractive option for off-campus housing, and I think it would be an effective way to meet more people (especially at such a big school). If I don’t like how rush pans out for me, I have no issue with dropping out, but I think it would be worth a try. I want to have an open conversation with Mom, but she is very close-minded. I don’t want to go behind her back, because I think that would only do more harm than good. How should I navigate this conversation? — Going Greek? Dear Going: As much as you dread it, you must have a sit-down, comprehensive conversation with your mother about this. Emphasize the benefits of being in a sorority. She may be concerned because in some Greek organizations there have been severe abuses of the pledges, some of which were so dangerous that students lost their lives. You may also want to research the compliance history of the Greek organizations on your campus before addressing the subject with your mother, so you can allay any concerns she has. (all together now...) KILL THE BITCH! Dear Abby: My 27-year-old daughter has issues due to a bitter divorce between her father and me. She treats us poorly, blames her problems on us and feels she is justified. How do I handle this? I don’t think she respects either of us much. As for our relationship, we get along as long as things are going OK for her. But if she’s having a difficult day, I get the blame. Advice? — Cold-Shouldered in New York Dear Cold-Shouldered: Tolerating your daughter’s behavior isn’t healthy for either of you. Encourage her to seek professional help for her “issues,” and when she starts the blame game or being disrespectful, shorten the visit, end the phone call or otherwise distance yourself. (all together now...) KILL THE BITCH!
  18. The first time I ever heard the word quaalude was in connection to the death of Anissa Jones, who played Buffy on FAMILY AFFAIR. That was 1976. Shortly before noon on August 28, 1976, Jones was found dead in a bedroom of a house belonging to the father of a 14-year-old friend named Helen Hennessy. The coroner's report listed Jones’ death as a drug overdose, later ruled accidental; cocaine, PCP, Quaalude, and Seconal were found in her body during an autopsy toxicology examination. The police report also indicated a small vial of blue liquid next to Jones at the scene, which was never identified. The coroner who examined Jones reported she died from one of the most severe drug overdoses he had ever seen. Jones was 18 years old.
  19. I'm sure she did... The milkman, he delivers...
