I only had one session where I compromised that rule and gave half upfront.

Happened to me once, the provider didn't get his full rate. I realized after the session something was off and when I asked him about it he said he had done powder right before the session. So that annoyed me. Moving forward I try not book provider's with PNP in their profile, and I also make it clear that being able to get up and remain in that state is very important to me. Everyone is human and people definitely have off days but so far I've had no problems except for that one time.
