I think 510guy it the mark....for a known, good massage from someone I trust (sensual) $150 seems to be the going rate now (at least in LA/SF).....I typically will only go 120ish if I can't find out any information on the them....sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised, but most not if I pay more for an unknown masseur.

New to SF, anyone have any recent experience? Last discussed lightly about a year ago but mostly about age shaving. Anything more recent?

Thank you for your concern. I stand by my above comments based on my previous experiences with other providers and my experience with him. Like anything YMMV.

This is my assessment too. He was one of my first hires 8 or so years ago and saw him 3 times but stopped seeing him maybe 5 or so years ago. He is chatty but didn't mind it too much.

Met Takashi again this week in San Francisco after a few years since last meeting. He was terrific, did not seem to have aged, but certainly had refined and improved his technique. Would look forward to seeing him again. See him while you can. He returns to Japan in June.

Speaking of long cook time. I am doing a porchetta right now (pork belly wrapped around pork tenderloin) at 155F for 27hrs. I have the sous vide balls and a cover.
Yes plastic wrap works too but a cover or the balls just looks more elegant. ?

Bit of a Resurrected thread here. I finally came across a recipe that required a very long and hot cook.

I was researching a way to do duck confit in the sous vide. Ultimately I melded together a bunch of google research...I seasoned the duck leg/thigh pieces, placed each (I had 4) into invidual foodsaver bags with some fresh herbs and some extra duck skin covering the meaty side, and vacuum sealed.

So I had questioned earlier needing ping pong balls to resist evaporations during long cooks. The confit went 16 hours at 160°. The no evaporation trick? I covered my sous vide vessel (16 quart stainless stock pot with food grade plastic wrap before going to bed! Works perfect and food grade plastic wrap is safe to 225°

After the confit cooled I broiled it to brown and get to temp, was excellent

Then are we just being enablers by feeding void of hunan interaction by engaging him in his random thoughts? No logic or reasoning has got him to do anything except order a walker. Some of us feel bad for him and some of us have disdain/mistrust of him but either way it is really getting him no where except allowing him to stay comfortable in never leaving his home.

Yes, I think that is how it seems to us. For him, as he says, the internet and this forum are his human contacts and all he is doing is making conversation. Hence the scattershot new threads. The trolling part is when he doesn't quite answer direct questions.

As I have written before, I think Avalon is not someone whom we can reason with. He has chosen his situation, and he would rather talk about it than actually do anything to change it. It may make us feel good to give him sensible advice, but there is very little of it that he will take. When he does, as with the walker, it feeds us encouragement to keep engaging with him, which is all he really wants. If we stop engaging with him, he will probably make one small move, post about it, and people will engage again to encourage him to do more, but he is really playing us.

At 70 w/ glucose that needs managing and RA, Hospital personnel are amazed that I take 4 meds (now 3) - they say that most my age take 24-30! I believe it as I have friends w/ this many.

I hate drugs and only take when it would be foolish not to.

Recently started using Cannibis (first time in my life) AND WOW! Pain is gone! One RA med gone and the other reduced 25%.

Talk about a natural miracle plant! I use a vaporizer 2x a day. It has given me my life back! I can stack firewood again! My hands work and I am no longer in so much pain I don’t want to move.

    Thankful for THC.

I've been telling @Avalon to MAGA taking a walk, just a few more steps every day, getting over his dependency from his Godlike landlord. So far no threads about his actions yet plenty of them about what he just saw on TV.

If you want to keep on posting here fight for your legs first of you'll be fighting to be able to type later. It's progressive, I've seen it in actions in folk younger than you.

    Avalon -

In addition to your very real illnesses (ie diabetes) you are suffering from what we doctors call "poly-pharmacy" or many medications.

People who are in this position VERY often have complications brought on by the interaction of 2 or more of the many drugs they take. They are especially in danger of this if different providers, including ER's, are prescribing for you.

As has been noted above, for a number of reasons you have not seen a doctor in quite a long time. It is NOW time to break that cycle. Your need for each of the medications must be documented and evaluated for interactions. Do you really have the specific conditions for which each are prescribed? Are there overlaps or additive properties? Can you do away with even 1 of these medications?

Do you have a primary care doc or are you just going to specialist? If PMC doctor only, does that doc really know how to manage your conditions, all in the same patient. Or is he/she acting like the captain of the ship and coordinating your care given by specialists?

I would HIGHLY recommend you make an appointment to see your doctor ASAP and, ahead of the appointment fax the complete up to date list of meds with the question: do I really need all of these? Are there other meds which might do a better job taking into consideration the other meds?

Last, consider a consultation with a pharmacologist to evaluate the interactions of your prescriptions.

Don't ignore the need to see your doc on a regular basis!

Bravo, MikebiDude, 510guy, and Moondance. I've been urging and probing Avalon for sometime now to get help. He refuses to do so. Others on this list seem to think that somehow he will eventually come around. I disagree wholeheartedly with them, Avalon is too far down the rabbit hole. When he runs out of prescription meds and the pharmacy and doctors refuse to renew them, perhaps then he will wake up.
