Reading this thread makes me think of the biologists that track wildlife. Maybe it would help if the guy wore a radio collar.

A few books at the moment:
The Engagement (on Kindle) by Sasha Issenberg, about the long struggle for gay marriage rights.
The Pink Scar: How Nazi Persecution Shaped the Struggle for LGBTQ Rights,
and a new biography of the first woman ever elected to Congress, Jeannette Rankin.

Now THAT I would like to read. Help me out here - what State did she represent? Was it Montana? I recall it was a Western State. What is the name of the book? Thank you!!

Merboy got a reaction from + Lucky in Hot New (Gay) Hockey Series on CRAVE: Heated Rivalry
Wonderful new show with outstanding performances, and Connor Storrie (Ilya) definitely deserves the Emmy for his performance. They both do really, but the monologue in Russian was enough to give it to him. The secondary storyline with the hockey player in NYC and the barista was adorable, and would be great to see more of those two as well in Season 2!

Merboy reacted to bbbzhong in Do providers generally appreciate advance booking?
Hello,
I travel a fair bit - mostly work trips that I often stretch into a little leisure - in places like LA, NY, and Chicago. When I’m hoping to see a provider, I’d much rather arrange something ahead of time so I can plan around meetings and flights.
The thing is, most of my early, polite inquiries never get a response. It makes me wonder if the norm is more “reach out in the moment” than “book days out.”
Is that just how this world works? Or am I missing a key bit of etiquette here? I’m genuinely curious because I’d rather be respectful than clueless.
Thanks for any perspective.

Can't wait for season two. I loved episode six where it was becoming more of a romance story than just two guys hooking up.

I agree about Connor's Russian soliloquy.
Does anyone here on the Message Center speak Russian? I was wondering how well he is speaking it.
SPOILER:
But also the scene in Episode 6 of Shane and his mother talking outside the parents' cottage really broke me.

Merboy got a reaction from + jrhoutex in Gay porn stars before 2000 that you have just discovered
I've just discovered a few that I didn't know even existed: Ty Fox and Steve Fox.
They actually appear together in the last scene of a movie called "Fox's Lair", and I highly recommend it:
One thing I love is the aesthetic that is hard to find today - huge, muscular hunks, tan, smooth and no tattoos:
Some studios from this time period include Bijou, Vivid Man, Studio 2000, and Catalina.

Merboy got a reaction from HockeyMan in Recommendations in Boston
A lot of gay men with money that would hire escorts that live in the Boston area or the surrounding areas (rich or upper middle class suburbs) in New England, but there's never been enough of them. I think New England sometimes gets ignored in favor of Manhattan.
25% of the Manhattan-based ones should just come up here regularly, and Boston should always be a stop for any international escort coming to the United States.

Merboy reacted to + Vegas_Millennial in Luxury cruise lines - which is your favorite?
For this reason, I now almost exclusively cruise on gay chartered ships, or with an organized gay small group on a ship.
I am really fond of OUTbound travel. I've sailed with them once on a river cruise, and have two upcoming cruises booked with them for their full charter of Azamara Quest.
When I sailed with them on a River Cruise, the changes they implemented with the cruise line really made the entire trip more relaxing, upscale, and worth the extra price.

I'd go back to my teen years when I was securely hidden in the closet and I'd be brave enough to come out and have my first gay teen romance -- something so many of us missed out on in high school -- with that boy I crushed so secretly over: Leif Garrett. (I'm pretty sure I could have him now for free but would pass; fame and time have been unkind to him.) But in 1977, my heart melted when I saw him on TV or the cover of my sister's Teen Beat. ... I'd give 16-year-old me that thrill.

I totally understand that going back to the mid-80s there will have been the horrible crisis that existed at that time. 1985 (the year I was born) was a very very hard year for gay men because of that damn plague that took so many wonderful lives. I often wonder, in the same hospital I was born, was there a gay man dying of AIDS in another part of it at the same time... the answer is probably sadly yes.
I think we'd all wish of course wish for a world where HIV/AIDS never happened.
[For this scenario, I was thinking more so in the 2000s and 2010s, and going online, such as to the old Daddy's Reviews site.]
