They are depressed about having NO opportunity. They have no opportunity because all the labor jobs are gone. My hometown went from 15 factories to ZERO. Unemployment went from 3% to 50%. Even the hospital had to close because everyone who uses it was on welfare. There are certainly people who would work, if they could find work. Without getting political...I will say the US (everyone) has ignored this problem for decades. Providing American citizens with enough welfare to survive while simultaneously exploiting poor undocumented immigrants is a terrible, terrible plan. I will not comment on who's to blame...but I will say it's certainly not a single entity. It's layers of incompetence and neglect. By neglecting a HUGE problem like this, there is certainly going to be a tremendous amount of fallout that will affect all immigration issues across the board.

I have certainly run across this myself. As I stated above...I didn't hand the extra money over as JUST "a tip". I shared my opinion that he should consider charging more, becasue the quality of the service warranted a higher price. I've even shared this same opinion after observation with restaurant owners with whom I am friendly, when they open a new location. Correct. Your explanation of business expenses has nothing to do with tipping. That's a matter of the provider setting their price for the service. I do agree if you feel a provider has set the bar too low, for the quality of service, than a tip should be provided out of pity for their lack of business acumen. I don't agree with your viewpoint that keeping 100% of the fee has no relationship to a business (such as a restaurant) where the tip is given to an EMPLOYEE. Unless working st a spa, a masseur is a BUSINESS OWNER, not an employee. So ..NO...a tip is NOT a requirement for a business owner, unless you wish to thank them for EXCEPTIONAL service (or extras). The exception, (as noted above) is IF you feel their price was undervalued. But then you are actually correcting their mistake, not really "tipping". Foreigners are being exploited as cheap labor. There are plenty of American citizens who CAN do the work, they just don't. Because NOT WORKING is an option here. A tour guide explained that when women lost their husband (or other bread-winner) and needed a source of income, they were assigned a job as gardener. You don't see litter laying around, weeds or dead plants in these very practical small cities in Turkey. We should learn from these places, that sitting on your ass, getting fat and selling drugs should NOT be an optional lifestyle. Get able-bodied people to work and you don't need to exploit so many poor foreigners. (Which is the actual reason they were allowed to flood in)

This remains to be seen. There are an estimated 11 Million undocumented people currently living in the United States. Many who have lived here for decades and have jobs. So far they've deported 500.
