Not well, according to Guadagnino. He says most sex scenes look contrived or gratuitous to him. If you can find the interview, he speaks quite frankly about this. I found his thoughts and artistic vision a true inspiration.

I'm surprised how bad it is. It's like these guys have no clue what to do. No chemistry. Almost makes me long for Kathy Griffin. Considering these guys are touring with some show, I'd thought they would make a better team. I know it's really cold outside, but watching them is kinda painful.

Luca Guadagnino said in a few interviews that the movie is not about gay sex. It's about love, first love, and family. He had no desire to shoot explicit sex scenes. He explains why in a number of interviews. Hammer also says in an interview that he did not want his daughters being harassed in grade schools with photos of "daddy's dick," which is why he initially hesitated to take the roll. One has to assume that Guadagnino assured Hammer that his movie would be different from the book.

Much like Brokeback Mountain, I'm on my third viewing of this film. I can't seem to let it go. My heart wishes to cling to it. Thanks to all who posted the various links to fun and informative videos.

Did therapy for two years long ago to work through some personal pain. Best decision I ever made. Changed my life forever. Did psychiatry not psychology. I loved my therapist, an older gay man who had been in a monogamous marriage for over 50 years. He was a true inspiration. He really helped me see the light of day.

I read the story, and I don't think Levine is merely a mentor. It seems he crossed the line I mentioned earlier. I wasn't "reasoning" in defense of Levine or any other sexual predator. But I do question whether men are different (from women) in the company of boys. There's a male bonding thing that seems innate to some of us. A boy's dick changes when he passes through puberty, and that change makes many boys curious about adult cock. Adult men never forget these changes, and we remember the game, "I'll show you mine if you show me yours." I "played" with several adult males before I turned 16, and most of those guys were straight. I just happened to be a curious teen. Nobody ever attempted to molest me, but clearly I had adult males in my life that were worthy of my trust, and they understood my curiosity. They taught me a lot about being a sexual male. Like I said, this "thing" in us males has been with mankind for centuries.

Exactly. In any he-said/she-said situation, "truth" is very difficult to ascertain. At this moment, the "victims" are receiving mostly benefit of doubt. We'll see how long this lasts.

Strange exchange on this thread. If the story is true, and that's a big if these days, it's truly sad that a 23-year-old could not step away from all electronic devices and ignore cyber bullying. Suicide over something so entirely meaningless is a waste I can't fathom. But then again, I have no idea what it's like to be a 23-year-old who works in the porn industry. If I was an aspiring porn star, I have a feeling I'd be picky about my scene partners, and I'd want to do everything I could to make sure my partner met a certain standard of proven good health. I hear some studios bust their ass for safety. Others, not so much. Porn is a risky business, probably because a lot of people prefer to remain uninformed about health and safety.

I like it, too. But I don't think I'd want to live there alone.

Well, enjoy that trip to Mars. Older men's affection for the company of younger men (and vice-versa) has been going on for centuries. In some cultures, it's considered "normal." I doubt a media hyped "me-too" movement in the U.S. is going to end the allure and fascination. Many of these intense bonds are not fueled by predatory behavior. But I imagine the line can get easily crossed, depending on the motives and sexual appetites of certain individuals.

"Artists create their own moral universe" and certain art-loving communities are more accepting of this notion. "Turning a blind eye" is more prevalent among the super creative types and those who work with them.

IMO, there are certain cases where the "right to a fair trial and due process" should be eliminated. Manson is such a case. I shudder when I think of the tax payer money that was wasted on this very demented man.

I don't care what numbers are put forth. The cost of a bullet to Manson's head before he got arrested would have been just fine with me.

I feel sorry for the taxpayers who had to foot the bill for his long life in prison. If ever there was a justification for the death penalty, Manson's crime demanded it.

Unfortunately, that kind of respect is getting more and more difficult of find.
