Is it possible to be successful, of course. The question is how likely. And yes, if a relationship has developed, price may not be an issue. But, a relationship doesn’t always happen after the first meeting. Everything requires a lot of things falling into place. Finding enough rich gay guys, with that kink, and developing enough relationships. I think you should probably consider something on the side before counting your fortunes.
 
I do think this thread is coming at things from the straight side of the fence. As noted by @MikeyGMin, the gay market place is different. You’re already dealing with a smaller market to begin with. And sex is not hard to come by. Do you know how many blow jobs I’ve been offered today on grindr? I don’t think a guy on tinder is getting that message as much.

The only reason I ever started hiring was because I stumbled on the profile of someone I was interested in meeting on another dating app, and thought, “well that’s kind of easier.” I’ve always viewed it as cooking a meal, and going out to eat.
 
With more spending money, I can completely stop eating out, and I’ll invest in cooking lessons. As a pretty good cook already, I can now focus on getting abs... I mean more recipes.

I'm pretty sure it didn't work out for him. He got bad reviews, and lowered his price down to $200. Only appearing on A4A at the end, and completely disappearing.

I'm curious to know what better and more reliable service is provided by guys who charge $500 are more. It's been my observation from this site that guys at this rate flake out just as much as those at the lower rates. I from the few high rate ads I remember seeing, these guys tend to have more caveats in addition to those price. I remember a guy who went back and forth between $500 to $1000 an hour. You were required to provide him dinner at a nice restaurant or show, and that no action was guaranteed. And I'm not talking about a "you are paying for time only" type description. He was almost guaranteeing that no action was going top happen, guaranteed!

I wonder how many hires are rich guys who hangout at high end hotels and restaurants, and how many are like me, middle class guys that save their money to have fun. Not to mention guys who have families and can’t go out or download dating apps.
 
I also hate talking to guys on Grindr and finding out they’re just there for business. I’m not completely hideous, I like to think when a guys hit me up to see what’s in my pants, his not talking about my wallet.

If this was a proposal for a coordinated rate increase independent of SESTA/FOSTA, my reaction would be, great! More power to you! As entrepreneurs, you should do what it takes to get the most that the market will pay. But attempting to use SESTA/FOSTA as justification comes across as opportunistic in way that is deceitful and exploitative. @stevenkesslar posted that the move to increase rates seems like an act of resistance. I agree. The problem is, the resistance is directed at paying clients instead of the new legislation (it's easier to protest to your clients than to legislators). @FTM Zachary Prince goes as far as saying that maybe he'll "tack on a $100 FOSTA/SESTA surcharge just to make a point." My question is, to whom are you making the point?

I can’t tell anyone what to do, or what’s best for them. If someone thinks charging $5000 and hour is possible, go for it. I can only speak for my personal experience. And, as someone who has cut down on hiring because of the natural raise in rates, another increase in addition to decrease in sites is probably an end to my participation in this part of the economy.
