  1. "they seem like caring people" The dog is huge and weighs more than one hundred pounds by estimate. The couple arrived at my house on-time and had a large metal cage that they had in their SUV. When I asked about their having a large metal cage, they explained that they had a large dog for nearly twelve years. During the last year of their dog's life, their dog was very sick. They used the metal cage to transport their dog to and from the vet. Their demeaner was extraordinarily fine. If they were faking, they would win an academy award for acting. Coincidentally, they live not far from me although I did not know them prior to their adopting the dog. I am very comfortable with the people who picked up the dog.
  2. I was surprised at reading what you wrote about Rottweilers not being allowed in certain arenas. To my surprise, some cities prohibit Rottweilers and a few other dogs as pets. Even German Shepards are on some prohibited lists. Before I started my heavy travel, I used to own two German Shepards. One lived to age 11 and the other lived to age 12. My house seemed so empty after they were gone.
  3. The solution to the problem has a good ending. A man and his wife came by my house this morning to take the dog. They seem like caring people. Even though this was a stressful situation seeing the dog pushed out of a car, I cannot help but think of William Shakespeare when he wrote: "All is well that ends well." Thanks for all the suggestions d
  4. Thank you very much. 12,000 followers! What a popular person. Maybe one of those followers might be in need of a fine dog.
  5. I posted about this abandoned dog on various animal sites, including PAWS, which is supposed to be the best site for matching lost animals with owners. Beginning today, I had two different people tell me that they saw my notice on PAWS and that the dog belongs to them. One person asked me to send him money via Western Union for a cab so he could come to my house to pick up the dog. The other wanted me to send money so they could rent a car to come get the dog. Those requests are too absurd to even consider. I asked each person where they live. They lived far from me. I also asked why the dog was pushed out of a car on Thursday morning. One was creative and replied that it must have been the person who stole "their" dog who pushed the dog onto the street. Those requests remind me of the occasional thread on this forum when escorts ask for deposits or money in advance of meeting. Scams are not limited to escorts, or so it seems. It takes on a whole new meaning when a scammer tries to profit over an abandoned dog.
  6. I have been with the dog since around ten o'clock today. He is a large friendly and playful dog. He eats like a horse (quantity wise). Neighbors walking past my home with their little dogs initially feared walking past such a large dog. However, the dog is totally docile and does not pay any attention to being barked at by smaller dogs. Parents walking with their children initially feared the dog because of his size. However, after I assured them the dog is not hostile or dangerous, many walkers stopped to play with the dog while the dog remained in my yard. I was surprised at how many visitors I had today because of the abandoned dog. In short, the dog is not hostile - he just looks scary because of his size. As to the dog having an identification chip, I suspect that is a good possibility. The dog clearly is a purebred. I cannot imagine any owner of a purebred dog not having a vet place a chip for future identification. Considering that the dog had no collar (which prevented me from calling its owner) I assume the man who pushed the dog from a car was not the true owner. If I get someone to take the dog, I will report back. Thanks for the suggestions.
  7. Thank you for the information about the Rottweiler rescue facility. I tried to contact that facility today, without success. Unfortunately, many animal charities and other charities exaggerate what they can do in order to continue collecting tax deductible charitable donations from the public. Based on my futile experience today and based on what I learned today about the lack of help for the "rescue" of dogs, the dog centers promise more than they can deliver. I spent hours on this project today and called place after place, including the facility you mentioned. The most inspiring lead I got was that someone from Rottweiler Rescue would telephone me and make arrangements to come to my home to get the dog or give me directions to bring the dog to their shelter facility. That promise did not come true for me or for the abandoned dog. No one from the facility called me. Hearing nothing from the Rottweiler facility, I finally called a friend of mine who works as an animal control officer for the City of Los Angeles. My animal control friend said that many of the charities (Rottweiler, German Shepard, et cetera) mean well but that they are simply over loaded with dogs and understaffed for employees to do an efficient job. The coronavirus pandemic made matters worse. What a sad situation. How disappointing.
  8. Incredibly, this morning while I was in my front yard, a car stopped near my house. The driver opened his door and pushed a beautiful Rottweiler dog out of his car then drove off. I estimate the dog is about two years old or less. I determined this based on its bright white teeth and general overall health. The dog weighs at least 150 pounds and is male. The dog is very friendly. It is trained to know basic commands, like sit, et cetera. Because I travel a lot, I cannot keep the dog. I called various animals control centers but cannot get any help from any of the centers to accept the dog. One center said, when they can accept a dog, they keep the dog for five days but kill it if the dog is not "adopted" within an allotted five-day period. If anyone is seriously interested in this dog and lives locally, please PM me. Thanks

  12. Murder Novarro was murdered on October 30, 1968, by brothers Paul and Tom Ferguson, aged 22 and 17, who called him and offered their sexual services. He had in the past hired prostitutes from an agency to come to his Laurel Canyon home for sex, and the Fergusons obtained Novarro's telephone number from a previous guest.[17][18][19] According to the prosecution in the murder case, the two young men believed that a large sum of money was hidden in Novarro's house. The prosecution accused the brothers of torturing Novarro for several hours to force him to reveal where the non-existent money was hidden. They left the house with $20 they took from his bathrobe pocket. Novarro died as a result of asphyxiation, having choked to death on his own blood after being beaten.[20] The two perpetrators were caught and sentenced to long prison terms, but released on parole in the mid-1970s. Both were later re-arrested for unrelated crimes for which they served longer prison terms than for the murder of Novarro.[21] In a 1998 interview, Paul Ferguson finally assumed the blame for Novarro's death.[22] Tom Ferguson committed suicide on March 6, 2005. When Paul Ferguson died in 2018, he was serving a 60-year sentence for rape in Missouri.[23][24] Novarro is buried in Calvary Cemetery, East Los Angeles, California.[25] Novarro's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is at 6350 Hollywood Boulevard.
  13. True, exempt only from state and local. However, the federal tax rate can be 37%, depending on ones income. While many states have no tax or have low rates of tax.
  14. Not to be difficult, but you initially wrote: 6 hours ago, jeezifonly said: "You want tax breaks? Buy bonds." _________________________________________________ Your response does not say anything about "tax breaks" as you wrote. Again, U.S. savings bonds interest is fully taxable. There is no tax savings. There is, however, a good feeling from investing in our country (buying bonds) for security of the funds.
  15. "I was a little shocked to find out I was going to get charged a 6.5% fee for making the donation!" Even though your entire charitable contribution is not transferred by UCLA to the specific scholarship fund you chose, you are still allowed to deduct the full amount of your contribution for tax purposes. How and what UCLA does with your money is not addressed in the Internal Revenue Code with respect to the university withholding a fee for their "handling" of the receipt of funds. Thus, you did not "get charged" a fee unless UCLA asked for additional money on top of what you proposed to contribute. I believe you stated that no additional money was requested. You think 6.5% is high, try giving a contribution to a major Jesuit University in D.C. - there you will see some "heavy duty" services charges removed from charitable amounts contributed. That will give you a "big" shock rather than a little shock.
  16. How does one get a "tax break" by buying bonds? The interest from federal bonds is taxable. Perhaps you mean State and municipal bonds?
  17. https://foursquare.com/v/spotlight-lounge-las-vegas/4b538b85f964a52072a127e3 This bar was originally located in Hollywood, California. The facility on Cahuenga had to close because the area went through a major upgrade in quality of stores and places. The bar had to move because of increased rents. It was decided to close and move to Las Vegas. One long-term bartender went to work at the new facility. He is mentioned in one of the reviews at the above link (Benji). I have not been to that place in a couple of years. When the bar was in Hollywood, it was one of the few "hustler" bars still in existence at that time. I cannot vouch for whether it is still a good bar. The reviews are informative.
  18. You are correct. That is a weakness of the rentmen site. Writing a truthful and bad review should not be prevented merely because the rentmen site is programmed to require a review coming from an open advertisement. Blocking a client is bad faith on the part of both the provider and rentmen for allowing such an unfair process that prevents a client from reporting a bad encounter. The solution might be to not so say anything to the provider that would tip him off that you plan to write a negative review.

  20. I agree, good for them. Many providers see so many clients in a day that they cannot get hard or they use drugs and have issues performing after arriving to see a client. Even while texting or talking with providers, to make an appointment, most seem okay. It is after they arrive on drugs or have seen a few clients that same day, makes spending money on them such a waste. Worse, is that some advertising clients use fake photos of other good looking guys. When those photo thief fakes arrive, they expect the high hourly rate quoted even though the photos are not of who will show up for the client. Yes, "luck of the draw" so to speak. This site is helpful if a provider happens to be discussed. The problem is that only a small percentage of available providers end up being discussed here. Caveat emptor
  21. So true. You pay for what if you end up with a dud?
  22. If you initially contact the provider through rentmen IM or rentmen e-mail, there is a record that you communicated. If you use private text, obviously, rentmen will not know that. However, the initial IM and rentmen e-mail is sufficient proof for rentmen to accept your review and post it if you state that you met. If you have any issue about getting your review posted and if you have the rentmen IM or rentmen e-mail, contact rentmen on-line and they will correct the mistake. I have done that several times without any issue (good and bad reviews) were posted when initially delayed.
