  1. A story in one pic (source):
  2. The wisdom of the young: [Tweet from a prominent Sydney journalist and author] Very pleased to learn my 8yr old son and his mates refer to KFC as Kid's Fattening Centre. [source] The observations was quickly confirmed by the parents of other 8-12 year olds. One, however noted that his son referred to it as Kentucky fucked chicken.
  3. I'm sure you do! However, that was where the 'I imagine our Beachboy' pic was! As an aside, today in Canberra was 24C, after 7 of the last 10 days being 35C+ and of those, the last two days 38C (aka 100F). Blessed relief.
  4. Winter in Rio isn't that cold!
  5. I didn't read it that he was in the same hotel, just that [wherever he was] he received an e-mail about an offer. I will agree that it was tactless to comment on an e-mail, and even that it was tactless to be looking at e-mails in the circumstances.
  6. The Economist has an interesting article, although a somewhat shallow one, on the complexities of gender identity http://www.theworldin.com/article/12635/pick-and-mx?fsrc=scn/tw/wi/bl/ed/ And it's not just a narrative of modern western 'sensitivities', it includes views in developing countries and those of indigenous communities.
  7. Meet them, talk to them, they can help you and they are happy to do so (for the most part).
  8. And before you ask, no we don't have them either, same as you except no $1s. But we have 5, 10, 20, 50 cent and $1 and $2 coins and no 25 cent.
  9. You need $25 bills!
  10. Australian Antenna of the Year (source): And (unrelated), OMG, it's finally happened!
  11. Cool, thanks. The things we do for science!
  12. I've visited your ad for the sake of the exercise (logged in to the site but with 'visibility' turned off), and I suspect that I haven't showed up there (I had visited previously too but unless you were paying attention to visitors you may not have noticed).
  13. @OliverSaks, I had wondered if advertisers had some sort of override switch that negated our perceived anonymity.
  14. I was under the impression that if you were not logged in to RM, or if you have turned profile visibility off, no one could see that you had visited their profile.
  15. I took it that he was replying to the original question, who have you wanted to meet but haven't been able to.
  16. WG, that looks like a Victorian number plate on the car behind him (I know, hard to believe that anyone would notice things in the background), so when I go back to Melbourne next week I'll be on a mission to find him!
  17. Top left hand corner of the screen, under the words M4M Message Forums is a tab for reviews. I had a quick look but couldn't find a review of him there.
  18. #Straya Warning: Not everyone will think this is funny.
  19. There are two branches of the Celtic language family, Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx form one, and the other consists of Welsh, Cornish and Breton. I understand from a Welsh friend that Welsh and Breton are mutually intelligible.
  20. Rico, I may have misread the room, but I had the impression that most of us had no problem with your MO, some may have been miffed that they are too old, but resigned to knowing where they stand. You may not have been here for a while but you didn't need to. Any newcomers can read what you have already posted, and although they may want to engage you in yet another conversation, that wouldn't change the outcome. I can't think of any new questions they could raise. (@TopTierTop)
  21. A wonky eye is one that appears to be looking in a different direction, so if you're talking to him one of his eyes appears to be looking at you but the other is looking somewhere else.
  22. On the TV coverage of the almost nightly cricket tournament the TV station shows short videos viewers have sent in of backyard cricket games. It's sponsored by a grocery chain with a $500 voucher as the nightly prize. A couple of nights ago one video took the cake. It showed a border collie that would pick up a tennis ball and drop it into a ball-throwing machine (it's a cricket version of a pitching machine - I assume there is such a thing). The machine would then throw the ball, the dog would dash off after the ball, bring it back and repeat. It looked very pleased with itself too!
  23. Is that Kellyanne Conway?
