  1. I took it that he was replying to the original question, who have you wanted to meet but haven't been able to.
  2. WG, that looks like a Victorian number plate on the car behind him (I know, hard to believe that anyone would notice things in the background), so when I go back to Melbourne next week I'll be on a mission to find him!
  3. Top left hand corner of the screen, under the words M4M Message Forums is a tab for reviews. I had a quick look but couldn't find a review of him there.
  4. #Straya Warning: Not everyone will think this is funny.
  5. There are two branches of the Celtic language family, Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx form one, and the other consists of Welsh, Cornish and Breton. I understand from a Welsh friend that Welsh and Breton are mutually intelligible.
  6. Rico, I may have misread the room, but I had the impression that most of us had no problem with your MO, some may have been miffed that they are too old, but resigned to knowing where they stand. You may not have been here for a while but you didn't need to. Any newcomers can read what you have already posted, and although they may want to engage you in yet another conversation, that wouldn't change the outcome. I can't think of any new questions they could raise. (@TopTierTop)
  7. A wonky eye is one that appears to be looking in a different direction, so if you're talking to him one of his eyes appears to be looking at you but the other is looking somewhere else.
  8. On the TV coverage of the almost nightly cricket tournament the TV station shows short videos viewers have sent in of backyard cricket games. It's sponsored by a grocery chain with a $500 voucher as the nightly prize. A couple of nights ago one video took the cake. It showed a border collie that would pick up a tennis ball and drop it into a ball-throwing machine (it's a cricket version of a pitching machine - I assume there is such a thing). The machine would then throw the ball, the dog would dash off after the ball, bring it back and repeat. It looked very pleased with itself too!
  9. The US is still the safe haven, much of the rest of the world is afraid it what might happen. What we don't know is what might cause that to flip.
  10. No doubt having him all wrapped up is pleasing for many posters here! We just need to get to DC or Memphis to collect the package. After last year's snow débacle, I doubt I will be in DC next January, but best wishes to those who will be!
  11. I guess not everyone is a fan of LinkedIn! Source Preferred way to connect with me (ranked most to least): 1. Text 2. Twitter DM 3. Email 4. Phone 5. Climb through my window 6. LinkedIn
  12. This is not a reflection of any opinions I might hold, just a bit of a giggle. I'm relieved that if there is another option that features an Australian flag, it was omitted from the screen shot!
  13. 'Interesting' is an excellent word by which to avoid an awkward comment.
  14. Oh TB you are unique, don't know about these others. Seriously, unique is an overused word!
  15. @TopTierTop, @Eric Hassan was commenting on one of your early posts in here. He suggested you should stay here for a while before deciding, and independent of that suggestion, you have. I am delighted that you have gained so much from your participation here. Eric is someone who can help you!
  16. Funny in wry sort of way, Junkee published a piece on old white men huffing off in 2016 and crying into their wheaties about how difficult life is for them. The examples in the piece are Australian but there's enough about them for you to get the idea and perhaps think of your own parallels. Speaking of assholes, 2016 was yet another year of spectacular Old White Man fails. Spat dummies* littered the year as one Old White Man after another threw all their toys out of their cots*, took their footballs and their mixed metaphors, and flounced into the public spotlight to sook about how mean the world is to Old White Men everywhere. And look, Old White Men have a point. Apart from being represented by at least 70 percent of senior members of the parliament, the judiciary, the media, the arts, the corporate sector, the sporting elite, the entertainment industry, and academia, where can they go to have their voices heard? http://junkee.com/australias-biggest-old-white-man-sooks-2016/91648 *dummies = pacifiers; cots = cribs; 18C (in the linked article) is a controversial section of the Racial Discrimination Act that old white men (amongst others) claim inhibits their right to insult and offend people on the basis of their race.
  17. Sorry, yes, that's what I was talking about.
  18. Low 30s here [°C], seems that's about the same as it is in Punta! Clouding over a bit right now, though.
  19. Not funny in itself, but this deserves to be in a humour thread. Vale Andrew Sachs, best known as Manuel (from Barcelona), who died on 23 November. Born in 1930 in Berlin, his family fled to the UK in 1938. He had an extensive career on radio, TV and the stage. He had suffered from dementia for the last four years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Melody Long.
