I concur with the concept of discounting successive hours. I always hire for 2-3 hours and about 50% of the time I ask “what is your suggested donation for 2 hours” I hear “My hourly rate is $X and so it’s 2*$X”. Unless the amount is reasonable I politely decline (“Thank you but I’m afraid our interests do not align.”) and most of the time the conversation ends there. “Reasonable” is highly subjective and varies based on my level of interest in the companion. I look at it based solely on my level of interest and not based on my rationalization of his reduced expenses and travel overhead; that’s not my concern.
