Just a side note on that...

I work in a college musical theatre program - and given the many pop/rock-oriented shows on Broadway and elsewhere these days, we have made sure that pure pop/rock repertoire training is part of our program. Last summer we were in the process of hiring a new teacher who would be teaching that material among other things - and we were talking about the music that students often relate to when asked to pick a pop/rock song from the past (as opposed to something in the current zeitgeist). It seems that most of them tend to go for something a decade or so in the past - a song they identify with from their early adolescent years. I remarked that it's interesting to see that happen as a general rule - just like we as adults, I think, tend to think back to the songs that defined our high school/college years and maybe a bit beyond into our post-college 20's. Everyone agreed. We all seem to put something special on whatever that musical era was for us.

I graduated high school in 1982, and college in '86. And though I like a whole spectrum of music, I will say that the popular music of the 80's does hold a certain emotional resonance for me. Not that I love it all, necessarily, lol - but certain songs of that era will still being up very strong memories of that time in my life - much more than other decades. I wonder somehow if it's really more about those formative late teens-early 20's time in our lives than the music itself - but that the music provides an unforgettable soundtrack to those years?

That said, though - I was born in '64, and my parents, who had a huge wonderful eclectic taste for so many kinds of music (my father had been a classical pianist and I owe my huge love of classical and opera to him - also musicals, etc) played the Beatles albums a lot when I was a kid - and I got to know those albums SO well. And maybe it's cheating to say that I identify with them, because in a way I hope we all do - but hearing the Beatles today still puts me in a very special place. I don't know if I necessarily literally identify with them - but I sure feel a parity with their music, in all its wacky wild wonderful variations.

Maybe actually that's what I love about them the most - there is no one genre they fit into. Their music itself was so eclectic.

Another sign of the times- real estate values are gonna drive the clubs out of business as rents skyrocket in the cities, and the Internet choices are keeping the young guys at home in front of their laptops. The times, they are a-changing.

There are 3 dancer bars in Dallas:

The Tin Room on Hudnall Ave
    Marty’s Live on Maple Ave
    Zippers on Fitzhugh Ave

Technically TMC on Cedar Springs Ave is a dancer bar but no private dances allowed.

Prices will vary slightly depending on the day and time you go but drink prices are pretty reasonable in gay Dallas clubs wherever you go.

I just came back from my first Bear Party. It was quite an experience. I have never done anything like this before so I didn't know how I would feel about it. It was an assorted mix of men that one would expect with "Bear Party"..There were beefy guys, muscular guys, older guys plus an assorted mix of race as well. Pretty sure I was the newbie here. There were cliques of course but I managed to find guys that were fun and were into it. Liked working with 3 somes. Met one guy where he was more than eager to have me top him which I gladly obliged plus guys were coming by and were into it as well and it was very arousing to actually top someone in front of 20 to 30 guys..I hope some of you on this board try it so I'm not alone anymore...LoL Any further questions DM me. xoxo

Id agree with the poster who likes to take home guys who perform in male strip bars. Depending on the bar, they have been at least partially "pre-screened" by management who wants good employees and you have better odds that you are not taking an axe murderer back to the hotel. If they really are str8, they are at least exposed to the gay world and have evolved into showing some respect to gay clientele. That said, I have had some great luck with this but a dud or two as well.

Unfortunately, I have seen this scam happen to too many customers at the bank where I work. We are regularly training our staff to be on the alert for someone making a deposit and asking to wire money out at the same time, or buying a cashier's check from the deposit. Most times they have never met the person that mailed the check or to whom they are sending money.

Some people complain when the teller asks too many questions. But when something doesn't smell right, they are just trying to help someone from being another victim.

Visiting Silverado this evening brought the news that the closure of the club has been cancelled- the lease cancellation threat and other issues are resolved, and the regular operation of the club is now assured. The guys are now anxiously awaiting the return of clientele to entertain. There will still be the earthquake safety upgrades the city of Portland is requiring causing a construction closure sometime in the future, but this is an issue all businesses in Portland will eventually face.

Probably cheaper to rent a hotel room downtown and treat yourself to a "night on the town" (VS paying for travel time etc). You can get some good last-minute deals on hotwire and other sites.

Silverado is still staying open while the leasing issues they face are being handled, buy it is very much day to day, and eventually they will have to relocate one way or another. Fingers crossed, they can be moved without a long break. Stag is still open, they are about finished with the remodel of their expanded space.

Of course I forgot to mention that once you have a second appointment, all sorts of discussions can happen. Once you have come in someone’s mouth, you can basically trust them that they are not a cop. At least I would.

My Mercedes E-class estate had a setting on the headlamp switch to leave the park lamps on on the side of the car which was away from the curb, it was to the left of the "off" setting. But, it was only park lamps, not headlamps. I think the car companies just get the cheapest parts they can, and they fail a lot faster than the old "sealed beam" glass lamps your mom's Country Squire had.

At thirteen, making money with a paper route- the route manager asked me to be the collector for all the undelivered or unsold copies of the paper. When I had collected a large stash, I was to take them down to the warehouse by the train tracks, where they went into the recycler's bins. The warehouse also took all the unsold magazines from around town, including the various porn shops. Eventually, a bundle of shiny glossy mags with men on the covers "accidentally" left with me, and a porn collection was that day begun.

Movies didn't come until college days, and the VHS mail-order collection started to fill a few boxes under the bed. Finally, the DVDs took over, and now its downloaded onto the laptop- amazing how things change in one lifespan.
