  1. Guess who Nicholas Clay is...
  2. Caution Wolfer: once you start an antibiotic it is better to take to entire course than to stop in the middle - that also selects out resistance.
  3. If you haven't started, see if there is a lab open to take a sample. If not, it certainly is not my call to interfere with treatment by another physician so maybe give her a call to discuss. You may choose to wait it out over the weekend and if you still have symptoms then make sure to get yourself to a lab! Here in US we rarely give antibiotics for diarrhea/"stomach" infections because we recognize that the VAST majority are viral. Those travelers to Central/South America are an exception sometimes because they pick up what is normal bacteria (usually E. coli) but different strains from what we have here in US. That gives a usually self-limited infection and we try to wait it out. If we contemplate antibiotic treatment most docs here would make sure to get a culture, mainly because certain infections such as Shigella and Salmonella are reportable to the health department.
  4. It's unfortunate that doctors prescribe a lot of antibiotics which are unnecessary. Unless the stool has been cultured and grows a bacterial pathogen (one which is not found usually in the bowel and actually causes disease), antibiotics should not be prescribed. The vast, vast majority of diarrheal illness is caused by a viral infection. Prescribing an antibiotic when not necessary simply selects out "super-bugs" and promotes antibiotic resistance. That's what has happened with the new strain of gonorrhea!
  5. Shigella is typically spread thru the fecal-oral route and by food handlers - causing diarrhea and fever. It is not a common resident of the bowel unless someone is a carrier (rare) after having the disease. It is similar to Salmonella: fecal-oral and pet turtles among other things. So - don't rim your turtle!

  9. It's high in Potassium - good for muscle cramps! Now you can believe her.
  10. Bubby's Sauerkraut is the BEST - it is crispy and not soggy like a lot of the others and the juice is exceptional. I drink the juice and then add some water to replace and let it sit at least a week. Can only do once or twice before the flavor is lost. You can also add apple juice to the sauerkraut and wait about 5-6 days while it re-ferments.
  11. Nope - next is have you considered conversion therapy?
  12. What about the great white sharks?! On the other hand there was a grade school (I think) girl whose school assignment was to write about a country she would like to visit and her teacher gave her an "F". She chose Australia. He insisted Australia was a continent and NOT a country! She had to appeal to the principal. Of course, there was no action taken against the teacher, not even remedial geography!
  13. Sure I tried. Failed miserably, even when I was young and svelte and limber. There was something missing.
  14. After a few extras and then you simply ask.
  15. I love a sweaty masseur - especially if it means we both need a shower at the end!

    Waxing

I am a great proponent of Magic Men's Cream Hair Remover. At Amazon, CVS, Rite Aid, etc. I have used it for over 20 years on my entire body except my head (the big one.) I smear it on, wait 10 minutes, shower off. If on the back, it helps if another person puts it on and, what fun, removes it in the shower. I use it on my butt, balls, crack, etc. as well. Depending on my mood, I may use it on my chest or leave au naturel. If first time user, try a test patch first. If you don't like the smell (only lasts a very short time) get some lavender or lemon essential oil and put a drop or 2 in a cup and mix it with the cream. Wonderful fresh smell. The more you use it, the less the hair grows back.
