  1. If it is a major performer you may never see again (Hugh Jackman, Ethel Merman) I recommend sitting as close to the stage as possible.

  4. No. I was aware that her mother was terminally ill before the wedding.
  5. My God daughter was married recently at a luxury hotel at Hilton Head, which surprised me because her family lives near New York City. As with @purplekow's mention of the St. Regis Hotel, I took the location into consideration while choosing a wedding gift. I sent a small gift. But I was far more generous when her mom died shortly after the wedding
  6. I remember reading a review of that performance in the New York Times. Just as negative, in fact worse.
  7. I never saw her in person, but like her singing in many operas available on CDs. In addition to cancelling, her strongest gift was not always acting (based on her performances on DVD). Still, I was shocked when learning Ms. Caballero had passed away. Sad as well!

  10. All of Starbucks soft drinks are in bottles. But, a limited selection.
  11. A Target Starbucks has a limited selection unlike a regular Starbucks. But, you are not going to find a diet Pepsi, although they sell other soft drinks.

  13. Tony Bennett is still performing. His live album at Carnegie Hall from the 1960s is a gem, especially "Strangers in Paradise" from the show Kismet.
  14. I did buy a ticket for the October 27 performance of Kaufmann in La Fanciulla del West. But, I called the Met to confirm he is scheduled to sing that day. Good luck. Saturday afternoon, balcony @$150.
  15. The author of the book was Allen Drury. I read several of his follow-up books If I remember correctly, his plots became more and more politically right-wing.

  17. Janet Gaynor was badly injured in an auto accident in San Francisco (1982). Mary Martin's manager,Been Washer, was killed. Ms. Gaynor never recovered. She passed away in 1983. Martin was injured also, but recovered quickly.
