  1. Hedder Hopper, @Avalon and Lucille Ball To clear up whether Hedda's son was gay. He was major co-star on the show, Perry Mason.
  2. I had similar experience with an older man who claimed to have written the lyrics for several Broadway musicals that later were films. One was Kismet. All true when I looked up Kismet. I believe you abou the jewels.
  3. Dan Rather and Kim Novak
  4. I would not have a problem with someone whom I met in another city and later talked with several times on the phone. But it would be someone I immediately liked physically.
  5. I have a one time close friend who married young and they havr two great children. I was in the Army, and remember him sending me a strange letter focused on was I shacked up with someone. When his wife died of cancer young, all of his subsequent sexual partners were men. Recently he told me how much sex he had with men in high school I am not going to ask him about his marriage under any circumstances. But it must be bothering me to mention it here/ Added later* All these years later, it is more about his lack of honesty.

  7. More often an usher than best man ----only best man twice.
  8. Perhaps the people at the Kennedy Center thought Carol Channing was too idenfided with one role. The producers of "Legends!" we're strongly divided about hiring her in 1985 for that reason. Larry Hagman and Mary Martin insisted on Carol
  9. Usually the Lifetime Achievement Awards
  10. I agree with @marylander1940. His friend should consult someone with an extensive medical background.
  11. There is not much new that can be written about the play "Legends" with Carol and Mary Martin. In the first few cities on tour, Martin was slow remembering the dialogue - not a new problem, but especially difficult when the plot never went anywhere after the first scene. (I saw the play in Boston.) Carol enjoyed doing publicity. In Dallas, someone asked her why was not Mary Martin there too Carol, "She is back at the hotel learning her lines!"
  12. She was an unusual performer. Singing on her own, not the context of a musical or film, she was just ok
  13. I only saw Channing in one play that probably lost money, but like her or dislike her, Carol Channing was a major Broadway star. (Even if Ethel Merman could not remember her name .)
  14. I saw Ute in New York before when she was still singing songs associated with Dietrich and Piaf. Those songs were better known than her choices in Berlin.
  15. Just to be cear, it is not the home of the Berlin Philharmonic. I saw German singer Ute Lemper there.
  16. Sydney, Australia has been a major destination for gays as far back as I can remember. I visited Sydney for the first times in 1994 and 1995.
  17. Yes. I have not seen the musical yet, but a nude scene has been mentioned several time on reliable Broadway chat sites.
  18. to February 24. The musical received excellent reviews. Takes place in an all black prep school.
  19. Wonderful Also, very nice to read @Lookin's poem thanks @Charlie.
  20. Just to clear, did you make up that term yourself?
  21. Could you give more details, please. I can not give you a like because of the subject, please understand.
  22. I believe he is from India.
  23. You are a good man, @LoveNDino.
  24. Maybe he is better in person on Broadway, like Ethel Merman. I have seen Lane in several plays and musicals on stage and never been disappointed. Only saw Merman in person in the musical Gypsy -- again it was a wonderful experience.
  25. The subject does interest me, plus the play has a great of anticipation on Broadway chat sites.
