  1. There is absolutely nothing to do at any of the hotels at the airport. So it depends on when your flight arrives in Philadelphia. If it is late afternoon, you will not have much time in the gay neighborhood in center City Philadelphia.
  2. He apparently died of pancreatic cancer. People have mentioned that his German accent remind them of male Marlene Dietrich. But Dietrich needed to return to Berlin to care for are ailing mother, and she was one of first people to enter Berlin. Her mother Did not live long after Marlene found her.
  3. I saw an early preview of the original production. Even at my introduction to the songs, I was enchanted.
  4. Between the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes Museum, Philly is as good in post-impressist Paintings as the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg Russia.
  5. Yes, but not difficult at all
  6. I drove from southern Spain to Paris, but it was February. I liike San Remo, Monaco and especially the French Med Coast. But go just before or just after the season. I am the first so far who mentioned renting a car, or hitching a ride (both are easy and fun).
  7. Jussie on Good Morning America last week: I never said they were wearing hats in anyway related to Trump.
  8. I live in a major U.S. city too, just not Chicago. And I did not respond to @caramelsub myself. Why? Because ithings happen in big cities AND small towns that are completely unexpected.
  9. I had a wonderful meal on the road to the castle in Prague. In 2010, but I still remember, and the World Cup matches we're shown on large screens in the main square.
  10. I was in Paris for two weeks starting the day after September 11, 2001. Many people went out their way to be friendly and kind. And I had visited the city many times, before and after 9.11; young people are friendly always.
  11. Some people would put Paris ahead of Prague, including me.
  12. I like Prague as well, and visited twice. The city does not compare well with Paris or Stockholm for foodies. The OP did not mention hiring as a major priority. For hiring, I greatly prefer Berlin, a more interesting city.
  13. Exactly. And not everyone at fraternity parties is necessarily a college student; a few may be high school students visiting friends.
  14. Food mainly: Paris, Munich, Florence
  15. Writing that @FreshFluff is contributing to stigmatization of older men into younger guys is bizarre. She posted another example of KS at his worst.
  16. Stockholm is best in the summer because of nothern European winters and seasonal darkness (like St. Petersburg, Russia). So I would suggest near the of the end of lent. I usually do not buy a rail pass because it is easy to fly in Europe. The food is wonderful in Sweden. I stayed two weeks, and wished for more time.
  17. Stockholm is beautiful in the summer, and the newly revived neighborhoods are interesting, especially those close to the Baltic Sea.
  18. I agree after looking again. Part of the problem is not being sure what is new without stores like Giovanni's Room. It is particularly difficult for new gay authors. Less of a problem for Alan Hollingsworth.
  19. @Charlie, according to their website, the new version of Giovanni's Room is still selling new book. I have not been there in years, so will visit soon.
  20. "between forty and death" is from the novel "Auntie Mame," and probably the two film versions.
  21. Ed, because of contract differences, Ethel was replaced by Dinah Shore in the cast recording. Merman did her songs on another LP, now on CD. Not everyone liked Ethel. yet she is essential in understanding mid 20 th century Broadway
  22. Your second paragraph reminds me of my six grade teacher, just back from a mandatory one-day teachers conversation. She said to the entire class, "I am often surprised at how many teachers dislike children."
  23. Easy. Seeing Judy Garland perform for about two and a half hours
  24. I've hired two porn guys who talked on and on, but neither wore a watch, and seemed not to care about charging for additional time. Theo had a right to ask for more money, but it was the client's decision. Accompanying a client to an ATM is way outside normal behavior. Excellent way for the provider to never get repeat clients.
  25. The 1950 Irving Berlin musical has some charming numbers, but without a monster personality at it's center it seems less a comedy than a requiem. New York Times Jesse Green: Without Ethel Merman, a Limp "Call Me Madam" at Encores! Comment: Other women are successful in Gypsy and Annie Get Your Gun. So perhaps the lesson by JG is stay away from most of other Merman musicals.
