  1. How did it backfire? Please tell us. "Backfire" assumes unforseen consequences Veterans who served in Vietnam no longer have to prove they contacted serious diseases. Only proof of the disease and service in Vietnam for very significant VA benefits

  3. To be fair, Barbara Cook stopped working with Elaine after a charity concert at Lincoln Center on a Monday night. Something must have happened during rehearsal, because the concert seemed to go well. Cook was usually a forgiving person, but NOT always, and not just with Stritch

  7. Elaine was at her best at special events. She was wonderful at a Merman tribute, which included Bette Midler, but not Mary Martin (fortunately for Stritch).
  8. Yes, Liked her very much in Maude.
  9. Why? Because Stritch would take over the show? Didn't Bea Arthur do a similar one person show around the same time as Stritch. To be fair, I never watched Golden Girls
  10. Elaine Stritch at liberty and Sail Away. I loved At Liberty. However, it was difficult to talk to Ms. Stritch without her taking over the conversation. Elaine invited people in back stage after the performance. She did realize I did not say .much. Elaine: send me a letter at the theater instead. Of course, I really enjoyed Noel Coward's Sail Away, all those years ago.. She was a true force of naturel. This was a brief revival of the musical at at a small theater in Carnegie Hall on the 100 th anniversary of Mr. Coward's birth Stritch, "Noel thought he would be forgotten.' She was an A plus story teller, even if stories about Ethel Merman may have a bit exaggerations.
