Here in SoCal I just got an appointment for Tuesday via Long Beach Health Department. SoCal trivia: Long Beach and Pasadena run their own health departments exclusive of the Los Angeles County Health department.

In a word, no. I tell guys the first coffee/lunch is a “no obligation” meet. We often go on from that to more fun…and more allowance. But if that initial meet doesn’t work out I send them home with a gas gift card, or a small amount for their trouble. I never send anything first, let alone 50%.

I wouldn’t call it a scam…I mean he didn’t get anything from you? I think sometimes these young men don’t really consider or think what they’re getting into….until the reality hits. So this guy was a ways from you and you took a shot…I personally would never do that without a coffee/lunch date first. Although I’ve gotten better at figuring who is real or who is not…I would still rarely fly to someone without more of an understanding. That said…I did it once and it turned into one of the best arrangements I’ve had yet, still ongoing. But I’d been conversing with the young man for 18 months (during Covid shutdowns) Don’t beat yourself up, like I said these guys “chicken out” when it gets real sometimes.

Thought of this topic when I just checked into one of my regular spots…and one of the two valets was so cute. I had “luck” with staff (a valet in particular) about 4 years ago at this same property so I was tempted to push our casual chat a bit….but let it go for now. I’m here 4 days 😉

A few factors that I’m aware of: Many patient’s palates/taste change after surgery. Drink more/less, or different alcohol. Depending on your procedure, the new size of your stomach and the length of your small intestine cause “malabsorption”. Good for weight loss, not good for absorbing alcohol as you might of before. Malabsorption also the reason a vitamin regimen must be followed so your body gets extra nutrients from vitamins it’s now not getting from food. Remember those little cards the DMV (California at least) sends out showing how many drinks you can have an hour to stay under DUI limits? Lose 100 plus pounds and you can handle less booze than before. There are some psychological reason that vary by person, too varied to detail

Yes…happens. I started to lean that way but caught it. I think it’s an issue for a couple of reasons for post-bariatric patients.

I’m down 140# from mine in 2009. Yes, some sagging skin but it’s a trade off for my better health. I regained about 8-10# over the last 3-4 years, but since first of this year I concentrated and lost 20, I’m now today under by lowest weight post-surgery by another 15 pounds. I had zero complications or issues. The first 90-120 days after surgery are NOT fun, but things progressed for me rapidly after that. I still take vitamins daily.

Maybe he’s not the right choice for massage, fair enough…but my visit with him was top notch.
