He’s advertising them on Instagram all the time. He even has an instagram account for them: giovannisparties_

This actually looks really good. I love Jim Parsons and Sally Field, so I'll probably hit the theater when it opens. Can't remember the last movie I saw in a theater. Just found out this about the movie: Spoiler Alert is an upcoming American biographical romantic drama film directed by Michael Showalter, from a screenplay written by David Marshall Grant and Dan Savage, based on the memoir Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies by Michael Ausiello. The film stars Jim Parsons as Ausiello, along with Ben Aldridge and Sally Field. The film is scheduled to be released by Focus Features on December 2, 2022.

What if they're not stars.....but holes punched into the top of a container so we can breathe??

Yeah, a Tuesday night I wouldn't expect to have much going on. Wed is supposedly busier now due to dancers coming in for "Giovanni's Parties". Fri & Sat are also busier. I don't know how they're able to do it, but Boardwalk is now open until 4:00 am I think on Fri & Sat at least, maybe other nights too. A lot of people start coming in around 2:00 or 3:00 after the other bars/clubs close.

In all the times I've been there over the years I've never had anyone check in our room during a private dance. At times, I was in there for a while and things became very interactive, but again no one checked on us. The only interruptions were an occasional dancer with a customer, checking to see if the room was available.

June was a good time to go, too. If you go in the winter months, especially Fri./Sat. it's not just standing room only, but it can be a struggle just to walk through either of the rooms to find a spot to stand. Even more of a challenge to find a spot to stand and actually see the performers if you're less than average height. (voice of experience here...)

Interesting story that Leslie and Megan Mullally tell about his role as Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace. The role was originally written for Joan Collins, who had accepted the role. However, she balked at the fight scene around the billiard table due to each character pulling the other's wig off. "Miss Collins apparently didn't want her wig jerked off," so she didn't show up for the table read and when it was apparent she wasn't coming in, one of the show's creators/executive producers "went ballistic and decided to recast." There's a little more to how Leslie got the role at his audition, and a lot more fun stories in this video where Megan interviews him for the Library of Congress 2022 National Book Festival.

From The Guardian: He got sober at the age of 42. “I ended up in the pokey,” he says. “That’s what I tell people: if you want to get sober, try 27 days in the LA men’s county jail. That will sober your ass up.” It was while serving time for three counts of driving under the influence in a year, in 1997, that he says he crossed paths with the then down-on-his-luck Robert Downey Jr. “They came to me and said: ‘We don’t have any room for him, he’s downstairs waiting, but we can’t let you out until 2am.’ It’s a rule in California, that you can’t let a drunk out until after the bars close.” So the pair became cellmates for a short period until Jordan could be released. In 2001, they met again while filming Ally McBeal, but Downey Jr couldn’t place him. “He said: ‘Didn’t we? Are you?’ and I said: ‘Yep, 152, pod A, cell 13, you was top [bunk], I was bottom.’”

Parking situation = not great. A couple of times I've had to drive around & around looking for a spot until finally I'd catch someone leaving. Now they've also blocked off maybe 5 or 6 spaces along the side of the building for VIP members' parking, so that leaves even fewer spots. I usually get there later, though, after 11. Maybe it's easier to get parking before? That was one of my concerns when I learned that was the location for the new club. I'd been to the old 2606 and was already aware of the parking shortage.

Made this today. Quick & easy, no muss no fuss and very tasty. Can't wait for tomorrow's leftovers. Thanks Mo! -
It's been a couple of weeks since I went on a Sunday; was really slow. It's only $5 cover though & you might find someone you like, so if you have nothing better to do, check it out. The good thing is, if you do find a dancer you like, there's not much competition for his attention. 😉

The family-owned funeral home is a dying industry

Along those lines, but a little different, I've been looking into "green burial" lately. Think that's the route I'll take. "Natural, or ‘Green,’ Burial is a safe and environmentally friendly practice that allows the body to return to the soil naturally by using biodegradable materials, and avoiding vaults and toxic embalming fluids. Many cultures and faiths throughout the U.S. and around the world have always used Natural Burial. An increasingly common burial option, Natural Burial is perfectly legal and is offered in many cemeteries and memorial preserves across the country. Conservation Burial takes this practice a step further by burying in a nature preserve rather than a conventional cemetery, and utilizing a portion of the burial fee to help permanently protect and maintain the natural environment. When you choose Conservation Burial, you make a positive environmental impact by securing habitat for wildlife, helping manage natural lands, or preserving habitat that is already rich in flora and fauna." -
And Sunday is a slow, low key night, the couple of times I’ve been there. Few dancers & few customers.

Just checking...anyone with info on this guy?

Yep, there have been times I've had to go to the nearest station due to a low tire, and then had to scrounge around for quarters to pay for the use of the compressor for AIR. We do now have a lot of Wawa stations around which offer free use of their air compressors and I try to get there if it's urgent. Due to previous experiences with low tire pressure though, I now keep a small air compressor in my car that plugs into what used to be the lighter socket. (The car didn't come with a lighter, so I'm not sure what purpose the socket serves other than to power my portable air compressor.)

Their grand opening is Friday 10/14 and their latest instagram post says "30+ Dancers!" I'm sure the place will be packed and it's not that big. Plus the parking on a regular Fri or Sat can be challenging, so I'm going to have to pass this time. I've pretty much become a regular already, going once or twice each weekend so I'll probably check in Sat or Sun and see if some of the dancers hung around.

I live just north of Tampa. On Monday we had mandatory evacuations of zone A, and recommended evacuations of B & C in my area; I'm in zone D. The next day Ian turned toward SW Florida & caused immense damage while I had drizzling rain & no wind, and my electricity went off for 1 minute in the middle of the night. The Ft. Myers area just didn't have enough warning before Ian's path changed.
