You’ve read the book. Probably have seen the movie(s) and now, ta dah, the musical. Both the leads, Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada have powerful voices and used them full throttle in today’s performance. There were lots of 20’s inspired dance numbers performed by a really talented ensemble. Suitably sumptuous sets and costumes made the stage dazzle.

I saw a terrific show today called Dead Outlaw. From the musical team who created The Band’s Visit this is a totally different and wonderfully weird story of a real not very accomplished outlaw named Elmer McCurdy. Shot and killed in a 1911 shootout, his mummified corpse spends the next 60 years as a sideshow exhibit traveling the country. Eventually his red-painted corpse is discovered hanging from a noose inside a California amusement park ride.
With a rousing 6 piece band it stars Andrew Durand as McCurdy who blows the roof off the Minetta Lane Theater. The whole cast is great especially Thom Sesma as the corona Thomas Noguchi.
The show has to close April 14 but I’m hoping it will transfer to Broadway. Still I’m glad I saw it in a smaller theater .

You get a lot of bang for your Christmas buck. The Rockettes are worth the price of admission alone. You even get live camels and sheep at the nativity finale. What more could you want?

This is definitely a show you’ll want to sing along with and tap your feet. I thoroughly enjoying it.
The show begins with 2 actors sitting on stage. One is (old) Neil Diamond, played by Mark Jacoby,  and the other is his therapist. Here begins the story of Neil Diamond as he reflects on his career using the lyrics from a song book.
The role of young Neil is played by Nick Fradiani. He’s excellent. Voice and mannerisms are just like Neil’s.
There’s lots of singing, dancing, and storytelling. Orchestra will appear on stage during concert like numbers. And, yes, the audience is encouraged to sing along!
I attended a Wednesday matinee. Purchased my tickets at TKTS. Had 2nd row orchestra. Mostly an older audience.

Paul Cadmus and Jared French were lovers and created art from the late 1930’s through the early 1950’s.  They worked primarily in their studios in New York spending summers on the beaches of Fire Island, Provincetown and Nantucket.
