I agree with you that 2000 an overnight is a lot to pay for someone to sleep next to you. Unless, it’s someomne I really like or enjoy outside the bedroom, I rarely do overnights and rather just save the annoyance of having to adjust to someone‘s sleeping and waking habits, and hire for a few hours. I regard playing with escorts more as a hobby like antique collecting. For which desirability is the driving factor. Ask yourself how desirable is the experience? Does gazing at/playing with him make you happy? In that case, in my mind, payment is for something that will enhance my enjoyment and pleasure, for which there really is a different budget than “paying” for someone to do his job.

I don't know if it's unexpected, because it happens quite frequently. I live in Chelsea facing a the backyard of a group of low rise condos/apts. A few years ago, my friend picked up a guy in Madrid (Chueca neighborhood) when we were on a business trip. We were to tour the Prado the next day, but he slept through it. Being that my friend studied in Madrid before, I presume he got lucky and was just sleeping in and decided to skip the museum. After returning to the hotel in the afternoon by myself, i called him but no answer and then asked the front desk to call him, again no answer. I went up and knocked on his door and I heard shuffling to the door. My friend was stark naked and drowsy and his wallet was wide open on the floor with his credit card and cash gone. Sounds like my friend lucked out and averted something more sinister.
