The idea of being surrounded 24/7 by old(er) people makes my flesh crawl. I both need and enjoy being around my younger friends. My grandmother spent the last years of her life in a community with a "continuum of care". During my visits she would have me join her and her friends at their lunch table. Their humor was of the gallows variety, to say the least. And little wonder my grandmother would sneak out of there for regular trips to the casino and their slot machines! (I am not kidding about this.) And: during the pandemic the high-end senior homes here in Chicago became expensive prisons. All the amenities disappeared. Residents not allowed to have visitors. No communal anything. I understand the reasons for all of this, and it certainly has made me rethink my desire to move into one of these places unless I have to. Instead, I'm thinking I'd rather lean on Instacart, Hello Fresh, GrubHub, Uber, and Amazon.

Alpharetta Georgia: Any thoughts on living there?

My (straight) brother and his family lived there. He adored the place; me not so much. -

Can One Truly Live Life Happily and Alone?

Yes. Happiness has nothing to do with relationship status, imo. -
Escort wants to move in with me... Any feedback, advice?
+ Topseed replied to + 7829V's topic in The Lounge
Unicorn: Chicago. I faced this situation several years with a boyfriend who did not pay me rent (or in any way contribute to the home’s expenses). The relationship fell apart, and it was hell getting him out of my home. -

Discuss this with your attorney. Here's why: Should this go off the rails, in some jurisdictions your roommate may have legal protection to remain in your home, even if he has not been paying rent. In the most extreme case, this may require you to go through a lengthy and costly eviction proceeding. I encourage you to think through all the possible outcomes. Plan wisely. Have an exit strategy mapped out well in advance. -

What do you do when you start to feel discouraged?
+ Topseed replied to JB_Studio38's topic in Questions About Hiring
Echoing jeezifonly: I too hoped for a larger discussion. If that’s possible, my suggestion: Live outside yourself. Volunteer. -

Met him when he was here in Chicago for a while (which, I suspect, was due to our gyms being open). Pics are mostly accurate; I say "mostly" as he now has a significant tat of religious icons all over his back. I found it distracting (to say the least) when he was on all fours for me. Felt like he was watching the clock and the experience wasn't one I care to repeat.

Met him again here in Chicago about 10 days ago. His ass is as sensational as ever. $400.

I'm reminded of the long-retired muscled porn actor Rob Steele (also worked as Rob Steel). Hired him once....very nice guy, fun time, and hot as hell to work out with him in the gym. https://www.gayhotmovies.com/porn-star/5112/Rob-Steel.html

When to cut a session short? Whenever you wish.

Rising interest rates over the next several years (and yes, I'm willing to make that prediction) will be rough on equities and bonds. In short: "return-free risk" is quite possibly what those markets will offer in the near term. I'd advise getting in the habit of saving, buy short-term CD's (and yes, the rates are nearly non-existent, but at least they're positive, and it's unlikely you'll experience as sizable a loss as equities and bonds may experience), and bide your time. As rates go up, put your money in intermediate term bonds, corporate preferred stocks, or other equities that pay a reasonable (and secure) dividend. At your young age, slow and steady wins the race.

What was one advice you wish you did not take?
+ Topseed replied to + MysticMenace's topic in The Lounge
Don't prioritize salary over culture. Tone at the top in any organization matters most. Is the person who runs the place someone whose morals and intellect are worthy of your time? -
Dentjusay, you're off to a fine start. Getting yourself into the mode of weekly/monthly savings is a big step.Congrats. Having school debt does NOT preclude you from starting to save. Open a IRA account to start your retirement saving plan. Yes, this may seem like a long, long way off, but that's the point: time is on your side. Whomever invented that wonderful concept called "compound interest" should have a statue erected in his/her honor.

Lovely to have someone give me one. I'd probably go hock it.
