I pay at the end when I’m leaving. I’m not just tipping for that day. A good tip can open up opportunities during future sessions. If I give less than 100%, I’m probably not returning at all. A 100% tip the first time can lead to more extras and an even higher tip during future visits. Well worth it in my opinion. 

I've been to HK Men Spa several times, and service has ranged from mediocre to spectacular. But I never went with the benefit of this thread. I'm very grateful. Now I know schedules are posted, and that you can request specific masseurs. I've only ever called for an appointment and taken who was available. 
But after reading the thread, I'm wondering what the best way to get "maximum" service. I usually go for the massage, then pay afterwards and give a 20-25% tip. Should I ask for anything at the desk? Or once the masseur is in the room? Should I tip upfront, and what amount is appropriate?
I had one guy last week who was phenomenal, and he guided my own hands to places I would have been way too shy to go without his gestures. If from the get-go I knew that was possible, I'd have loved it. So if you have tips for etiquette to get supreme service, I'd love to know. 

Sigh, finally went to Sebastian after the rave reviews. The massage itself was the best I’d ever had, but I was surprised at how lackluster everything else was. I wouldn’t say there was actually a negotiation, but I didn’t love how he handled it and was surprised since he seems to be the crowd favorite. 
 
I’ve been going to Timmy at TSMS and he gives a solid massage with passion for me personally, but I like the HK/27 facilities so much more. Any other recs there?

I had a really great experience with Alex, FYI.  I called last minute and the guys I knew weren't available so I went with Alex, who has some less that optimistic reviews here, so I was really feeling disappointed going in, but am happy to report he was really great.

In the past 2 months, I’ve learned to appreciate the meaning of YMMV. As a birthday treat, I had a massage from a well-recommended masseur and it was ‘meh’ at best. 🤷‍♂️ I left feeling like I had wasted my time and money and I couldn’t put my finger on where it went wrong  
However, tonight was different with TantricShaman. There was a great connection and I left feeling amazing. You have to go in with an open mind and embrace how different the experience is. I did and it was very satisfing.

I think it's already quite normal.
 

What about tipping well  "upfront" feels "yucky" ?
If I try someone new and I enjoy them, I always tip generously. That starts the relationship on a good note if you return.
I see nothing yucky about wanting to show that you're a good repeat customer.

Went to Cody about a month ago. Terrible experience.

Between 27 and HK, I book now more often at 27. The vibe is much better 😌
